A story about the journey of Arjun after he has avenged the death of his beloved wife. ETF will only be a small part here, rest are purely my imagination. This is mainly a travelogue as perceived by Arjun and a myth that will be revealed afterwards.
Background.
Arjun S Rawte – Only son of a rich businessman,who wanted to serve the country being a part of the police force and eventually qualified IPS examination. Lost his mother at a tender age of 7. His father disapproved of his career goals and he left his house to achieve his dream. During his training days, he found a true friend in Sameer D Rathore and their friendship strengthen with time. During the 3rd year of his career, he met Roshni during a case and eventually fell in love with her and they got married. One year in to the marriage, on their first anniversary, Roshni was brutally murdered in front of his eyes by an old enemy of his, Sikander. His world collapsed and the only goal he had was to avenge the murder of his beloved wife. He chose to live a reclusive life with indifference and the determination to eliminate Sikander. After about 2 years since the murder of his wife, Arjun was transferred to ETF, Mumbai, and joined duty as second in command, under his once best friend Sameer.
Sameer D Rathore – Chief of ETF. Best friend of Arjun from Academy days. Though Arjun has withdrawn himself from the world yet Sameer could not refrain himself from looking out for him time and again. He was relieved to certain extent as he could support and somehow manage his reckless best friend, after Arjun joined ETF.
Ayesha Kapoor, Shreekant Sen, Chotu & Liza –Members of ETF. Very efficient at their respective work and respect their seniors a lot. Though they are scared of Arjun Sir’s scolding yet they all love, support and respect him.
Sakshi Anand – A Crime Journalist, now tagged with ETF as per the order of Home Ministry. She is very nice, cheerful and light hearted person. After working with the team, she has fallen in love with Arjun even after realizing that Arjun would not be able to love her back. All she wished for was a little peace and calmness in his life.
There will be many other characters who would be introduced eventually.
Chapter One: The Final Adieu.
After many years of hardship, rigorous searching and detailed planning and counter planning by Arjun S Rawte along with his teammates, Sikander was caught. Fighting his urge to kill the inhuman, Arjun arrested him and put him behind the bars. After a year-long trial at the court of law, Sikander was awarded the Capital Punishment by the Honourable jury of the Mumbai High Court. Though names of many big shots surfaced during the trial, yet they escaped from the loopholes of Indian law.
Arjun was at peace with the fact that the murderer of his wife has been punished yet he was upset by the dirty turn of events during his trial at the court involving some big businessman and politicians.
Arjun is a calm person now, no more arrogant and rude behavior, occasional smiling with his teammates, normal interaction with Sameer yet Arjun find it hard to stay back at ETF. He found no further reason to be a part of the police force any more. He felt void and suffocating from within.
A few months after the execution of Sikander, Arjun got the news of demise of his father. Though he was not in talking terms with his dad for a long time yet he felt bad for not being able to be by his side during his last days. He sighed on the fact that there is no one left in this world whom he could call as his family. He is all alone now. His father owned a big business chain that flourished equally both in India and in UK, which is now passed on to him being the only heir. Business and profits has always failed to hold his interest, so he decided to sell off the entire business. A few months of boring meetings and monetary talks, and the job is done. Arjun now has a huge bank balance which he will not be able to exhaust in his lifetime even if he led a luxurious life henceforth. The only property that he kept for himself is the house in Mumbai where he grew up and has a few faded memory of his late mom. Soon, he felt sick and tired of living in the big house all by himself.
One Sunday while reading a travel book named “Blue Latitudes” by Tony Horwitz, an idea popped up in his mind, what if he undertake solo trips to go and see places. Strange enough but after his wife’s death, he has never gone anywhere for a vacation or break. His last vacation that he could remember was with Roshni, in December 2014, when they went to Rajasthan for their honeymoon. He smiled as fond memories of Roshni, dressed up in local attire at Mount Abu, resurfaced in his mind.
6 days later, Arjun got an email from some Ms Marian Griffith, PS to CFO, Greenfry Food Co. regarding the transfer of shares, of a food processing company, that his father owned in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Arjun was not aware of his father holding some shares of a company named “Greenfry” so he was pretty surprised at first. Upon taking a closer look at the email he learnt that his father owned shares of the said company worth £1 Million and a bungalow at Middleton Park, Leeds. Arjun was requested to visit Leeds at the earliest regarding transfer of the ownership of theshares to him, he being the only heir to Mr Rawte. Contemplating the invitation and his wish of undertaking a solo trip, Arjun fetched out his passport from the cupboard and logged in to the site for UK visa.
One fine day, he rendered his resignation and bid adieu to ETF. Sameer D Rathore, the Chief of ETF and his once best friend, tried to reason with Arjun to stay back, but soon realized that Arjun is all set to move away. ETFians namely Ayesha, Shree, Chotu and Liza were very upset with the news but somewhere they all wished for his solace. Sakshi, the crime Journalist, was really heartbroken at the news, she has always loved him knowing the fact that her feelings would never be reciprocated. Arjun bid all of them goodbye not before promising them to inform his status time to time.While leaving, Arjun apologized to Sakshi for not being able to accept her love and suggested her to forget him and move on in her life as he is devoid of any love to offer, or so he thought.
