If Bajaj can get designer Sarees for an engagement and use that as a apology and get away with both keeping prerna away from Sharmas AND not helping Sharmas in 8 years despite telling pre he would, I think anurag can do the same.

This is the standard way of operating with the Sharmas isn't it? Ronit helps them with money for veena's operation and shivi changes her opinion about him. Bajaj gives them expensive dresses and shivi becomes cordial with him. Prerna was once upon a time ready to sacrifice her entire life to save her family house. It's understandable that Anurag thinks shivi is doing what she is out of desperation or some financial burden.

Anurag's dialogue could've been better but the sentiment was not misplaced according to me.

Because I had more expectations from Anu unlike Mr.B or Ronit and so, I am disappointed that Anu didn't do anything for the Sharmas in the past 8yrs. 😔
