I think we can all agree that the script is disjointed and not great, but Zahid is the best part of it by far. I love his sheer force of will. He knows how to make some passable lemonade out of some really bad lemons lol. I agree he shouldn't have signed MTA or MNJ but let's not forget that there are times when an actor doesn't sign a project for the script but for money. There are a lot of actors and actresses who are known for being choosy but most of their careers are also beset with lousy projects, some of them so bad we have to wonder what possessed them to agree to the project in the first place. Even Mahira and Fawad Khan have made poor choices throughout their career. So can we please give Zahid the benefit of the doubt and say he had to do it for some other reasons and not because he loved the script? I think it was Michael Caine who famously said, when asked about his movie Jaws IV, that he'd never seen it, but he had seen the house it paid for, and it's lovely.

Also, I don't agree when critics say Zahid's performance in MTA isn't convincing at all. And no, I'm not just being a blind fan here lol. It's just that he's character isn't multidimensional like it was in IZN so people think it's bland. It maybe his least interesting role but ab aesa bhi nai hai that the sight of his face puts you off. It's not easy to act in an underwhelming project and ridiculous premise that doesn't have a great story arc. The plot and dialogues are downright cringey, but Zahid did his very best with his role and also he and Sonya have believable chemistry as a married couple. I just wish the actual drama was on par with his acting skills. I'm not saying that he should win an award for MTA or that this is the greatest acting performance of all time but it's a fact that this drama would have been completely 'meh' if not for him. It still could be meh but whenever he's on-screen it doesn't seem so bad. He has great comedic moments in the drama, but the way his eyes well up when Ulfat says something awful, it almost makes up for all the drama's terrible, cheesy moments. If it is one of the top most rated dramas on YouTube today, that's because of him and him only. Or his super good chemistry with Sonya.

P.S: Zahid's shoulders must have hurt from carrying so many dramas all by himself lol.

And also, why don't I see this exact outrage towards dramas like Jalan or Deewangi that in fact perpetuates toxic relationships? And also glorify it?

Yes it's unfair to call his acting bad, he is doing justice with Shahaan character and frankly speaking the show isnt as bad as some are making it out to be. They are flaws obviously but they are worst shows on air right now. I like that both ladies are grey and they arent subjecting one to be the innocent soul..that's different to start of with..

Actors and actresses have their own priorities, some work for money while some who dont need to work for money can be picky. It's a personal choice.

Not everyone is career centric while not everyone is passionate about their craft. It's good that he picked something less complicated this time and he will learn with this experience too. His MNJ was a bad choice not because of his role but the whole setup looked out of place. Atleast here his scenes with Sonya are relatable as of yet. But then he would have learnt something from his MNJ experience too. We all keep learning in life and actors should not be treated differently

This! 👏🏽 When you’re a young artist, it’s easy to be driven by your passion and ideals. When you’re a bit older, sometimes a job is a job. Sure, if you pick wrong you might have a miserable time, and if you pick really wrong you might appear in one of the worst dramas ever, but either way, it’ll all be over in a few months. An actor agreeing to a role is still someone taking on a job like the rest of us, so it comes with a wide-range of considerations. If you remember Zahid’s interview to Amna for Something Haute, he said he took a one-year hiatus for IZN and had to live off his savings. If you talk about me, I would last three months or less with my current savings if I were to lose my job. And actors aren’t extraordinary people. They are humans, just like us. Not every actor is rich and maintains a lifestyle of luxury. If he says he barely managed to let-up in his house for almost an year and he shot MNJ and MTA in parallel to IZN, do the math. It pretty much explains why he signed the former two. Doesn’t it? At the end of the day, cash is king. There are examples of hundred big stars who took roles just because the money was good. Even some of the best people in the business, including the likes of Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ryan Gosling have appeared in movies that critics hated. There aren't many jobs in acting, which is also a factor. Even small budget films are often able to attract big name actors, because 'good' work is in short supply. Ab Ishq Zahe Naseeb aur Alif jaisay dramas har saal tu nai bantay naa. Naa he koi actor itna lucky hota hai k usay har dafa achi script offer ho. Aap aik script reject kar saktay hain. 2 scripts reject kar saktay hain. But if there are countless scripts in front of you and all of them are a borefest, you gotta give up at one point and sign something. That is why it hurts when I get to read comments like why x,y,z agreed to do this project (even I do that) You can criticize the performance or the writing but you can’t tell an actor what to sign and what not to sign because it all comes down to his choice which you can’t control. You don’t know what’s going on in the back of their heads when they’re signing a script.

Coming towards the acting, I find Zahid quite convincing here tbh. He is not "responsible" for a "bad" script. It’s the director imo. No one sets out to make a bad drama. But the director can make decisions that radically changes things an actor has done. That’s one of the reasons why I feel bad about singling out Zahid and Sonya because they may have given a great performance and signed on to a great script that was changed by the executives or wasn’t directed well. At least let’s not blame actors for factors which are out of their control. Kia pata unhain yeh bhi naa pata ho k MTA is a total rip-off of Judai? Maybe they hadn’t watched the original movie like me? Not every person on this earth is into Bollywood lol.

And it’s not like Zahid seems to regularly end up in "bad" dramas. He has given us some really good projects too over the years so let’s not forget that.

Their onscreen chemistry is off the charts, making for some of the best drama romances on screen.

Yes he has done a good mix and at the end of the day it's unfair to put to many expectations on an actor or actresses when we dont exactly know their mindset and thought processs. he comes across sensible and I dont think he is doing a bad job in MTA anyways. I wouldn't take all these online reviews seriously because at the end of the day all have their favourites. They are some who are enjoying a show like Jalan too . 🤪

I personally find his scenes best in MTA. He is believable and not a larger than life character..

I definitely don't find Judaai and MTA identical, yes some things are similar but the characters are different. Shafaq and Jhanvi can not be compared and I believes that changes the dynamics of the story completely.
