It could also be because it's his first love after all. People tend to live in illusion right? He realised his love for her and the fact that she is doing so much for him makes him happier and over the moon that he can't think of anything else. Later when reality crashes in which would be because of rhea and abhi, that might be the time we might get to see mature, responsible Ranbir. He is just a 20 year old boy in love so I won't really say it's a character flaw. Atleast that's what my opinion is.

Although he should have definitely cleared stuff with Rhea.

He was Gaga after her before and if nothing else she was his childhood friend.

Although this is also true that at the age of 20 you can make mistakes and NOT get married.

He should have cleared it up with rhea but when you think about it he was going to and then there was the MMS scandal then maya's fake molestation and then engagement etc. And Rhea just disappeared,it probably didn't even strike his mind later with all this drama. Isn't that why he hasn't even revealed prachi's name to Abhi yet? Because he wanted to talk to rhea first. And keeping this loophole open can give them good drama and trps so why not.

Also yeah at the end of the day he is just a 20 year old. How many 20 year olds are actually that mature and responsible and think that much? It's a stupid innocent mistake that might have major consequences later because of the kind of people he is surrounded with like rhea and Aliya who'd manipulate it.
