Reliable reviewers/movie critics

Which reviewers/movie critics do you follow when deciding to watch or not to watch?

I follow TRP/YouTube and Old Famous Honest Reviews, Mensxp/YouTube

Sucharita, Rahul Desai, Anna Vetticad, Shubhra Gupta.

Bhardwaj Rangan is the only one.

Rahul Desai is an excellent critic but he's a bit nihilistic and elitist in his approach. The guy is more into indie/art-house cinema.

Shubhra Gupta is decent. Her political ideologies usually factor-in in her reviews. And she's openly said that she doesn't love films. It's simply her job to review movies.

The rest are all pani-puri reviewers.

I used to like Raja Sen's reviews...now I follow Anupama Chopra, Sucharita, and Shubhra Gupta

Loool sameeee! I loved Zain & Shantanu but I love Zain & Shubham too. Bhadwa is funny too 😆

TRP is pretty reliable too. I didnt like how he dissed Jaby Koay though.

From the well known folks, Rangan is the only one who deserves to be called a critic.

Anupama/Masand are wheeler dealers.

Sucharita/Rahul Desai/Anna Vatican are SJWs/agenda peddlers.

Raja Sen is a contrarian, hipster snob.

Shubhra Gupta is an utterly miserable bore who literally dislikes almost everything.

Sreehari Nair on Rediff is not nearly as well known but wipes the floor with all of these guys except Rangan.

I've missed watching far too many good movies in theaters, due to reviews, that I ended up loving. Also, many a times I've actually been infuriated because the review revealed more than what I needed to know (I HATE spoilers).

If I like the trailer, like the premise, the director or love watching the actors on screen, I'll go watch the movie in theaters without relying on reviews. I do rely on social media buzz a bit, which I'm trying to reduce my dependency on. Also, I personally think this profession of reviewer/movie-critic is now outdated and not even required!

Ditto. You said it. I also like Raja Sen although his taste is a little more artsy. But he isnt scared of ripping apart the big films. He was one of the few critics who didnt like Padmaavat or RS's performance

I don't like Raja Sen as a critic. His personal agendas come across in his reviews. I wouldn't call him a balanced reviewer.

I actually liked his videos until I saw that one. Not cool, bro! At the very least they're entertaining. Some like stupid reactions are also informative. If he wanted to diss someone for taking advantage of Indian need for approval, do it to obviously silly channels, not the ones putting in serious effort.

Still, TRP does fair movie reviews 👏, no question.
