It depends though. Harry Potter released back in 1997 to 2007. At that time I was a kid. Like 8 or 9. At that age things do look black and white. Because media and entertainment make it appear as such. Teachers are always like good-bad. Marks are good-bad. Everything is one or the other. It's only as you get older that you begin to understand that not everything is black and white.
It was around when the 4th or 5th book released that I finally began to understand that it's not all black and white. That's another reason I have a problem with the books now. J.K. Rowling had a great opportunity to teach kids at a young age that not everything is black and white, yet she went with the age old black and white.
