Again I am talking about serious cases like molestation or someone gets touched inappropriately without his or her consent

Like I had said earlier it should be only for legitimate right reasons

Otherwise going around slapping people without any serious reasons should definitely be avoided.

but is spreading awareness this way really helping anyone? Do you think a rapist would watch a drama and realise his mistake and change himself?

Instead they are promoting it more I feel.

Its good to spread awareness about some things in drama such as giving knowledge about psychological disorders (izn) and awareness about diseases (bay dardi)

but dramas with physical violence are getting all the ratings while nobody even takes them seriously...they just take it as entertainment

Disagree

I don't think so. I feel these issues should be raised too.

Our society often blames women for molestation instead of the rapist. Many women feel scared in filing complaints. Their own family members end up not supporting them

So, if it raises awareness then why not ! If it inflicts fear in minds of criminals then why not? If it gives the much needed encouragement to women then why not? If it gives a confidence boost to their family then why not ?

Why is talking about taboos an issue ?

Not talking about these issues is a cop out

Series like Delhi crime, movies like No one killed Jessica etc did so well because they showed the guts to talk about these issues and raised awareness.

I guess it is better if we agree to disagree

But do you really think its affecting people? The men you are talking about dont even watch these dramas

Also MPTH had this same issue, even though the theme was so bizarre😡 but because of such dramas men actually start treating their wives worse and get more insecure

Television, movies are an important medium for spreading awareness

It is not only for men but for women, families and society in general.

If as per you men start treating their wives worse then there are many cases where women have come forward and fought for their rights, where society has supported women instead of blaming them.

Deepika's movie called Chappak was released which was based on an acid attack survivor. They showed the incident, showed her fight for justice and how her culprits were punished.

End message was how justice gets served and how there are many organisations which support women and support her in seeking justice and help her in getting a normal life

These things happen in our society and there is no harm in showcasing the reality in an attempt to create much needed awareness in society

It's more to do with the mentality of people who are watching, n the novice, juveniles with vulnerable minds who develop a lot of prejudices watching the content on tv and movies.

For example if a child or a teenager is watching a movie for the first time and they show rape , they show more of victims pain , how she faces social stigma .. Why not show more about how the criminal is punished , how it's a heinous crime punishable under law , how.men should be taught to respect women and not objectify them , how women must deal with the trauma bravely , how girls are taught to talk about it and not face such abuses quietly. Make it an inspiring story rather than a sympathetic story. Victims need empathy .

Same is the case with violence. When impressionable minds watch it , they think it's ok for elders to slap each other or resort to violence and abuses when they are angry ? That's highly disturbing n it will create a new normal in their minds which is not good for the society. Anger is one emotion which has become "normal " in the current times bec people dont know how to deal with it, everyone has some problem or the other which they cant deal with and take out frustrations in all possible forms. Slapping , abusing, drinking , partying , drugs . Problem is we dont consider it a problem bec everyone has it.

Absolutely

Here point of discussion was if a woman slaps a man if he tries to molest her or touches her inappropriately is right or wrong.

Slapping someone without any concrete reason is absolutely wrong and should not be encouraged

But if it is for the right reasons like Woman giving it back to him in self defence or if the man touches her inappropriately and she in return slaps him then it is not wrong and there is no harm in showing her giving it back to the perpetrator.

The slapping, abusing does happen in real life and alcohol is like a pain killer for some. Alot people who are heartbroken drink because it heals the broken heart.

ARY shows are like lifetime movies but even lifetime movies doesn't go this extreme with abuse. I remember feeling disturbed for days after watching shows like Chup Raho and Kaisa Hai Naseeban.
