@Bold, Draupadi was the queen and unfortunately back then queens had limited power. The king was the whole and sole. Going by the characterization of Yudhishtir, I don't think he kept anyone above himself or his inflated ego. The younger four might love Draupadi to the core, but after DyutSabha and then Udyog Parva it's clear that of they had to select between Draupadi n Yudi, unfortunately it would be the latter. So most probably Draupadi did not have much power of herself. Although she achieved what rarely a woman of that era could dream to get, yet still wasn't in position to outpower Yudhishtir.

Drapaudi brought money that pandavas did not had. It was because marriage to her that pandavas had it in them to stand against their mighty cousin it was because her fathers money that pandavas built Indraprasth. It was panchala army that won then war. And it was she who controlled money bhism himself says at one point that one who controls money controls most of the thing

So know drapaudi did had a lot of power with herself

The point here is that to simply reduced her to a nobody who was just "born for arjuna s sake" is nothing but completely utterly misogynistic and insulting

I am done with all the passive aggressive behaviour against here.

Draupadi herself gave credit to arjun's valour for indraprastha prosperity , arjun has a major credit for filling indraprastha's treasure, same thing earned him a name dharanjay winner of riches . He got huge dowry from dwarka as well as Manipur 2 & his north region mission

Bheem & twins also helped in prosperity.

Yes draupadi brought a huge dowry & helped Pandavas to get a seperate state & not only drupad but krishna also helped Pandavas to build indraprastha.

It was arjun's victory on drupad which pave d way for entry of draupadi ,

It very clear Draupad was interested in having arjun as son in law.

But to whom it may concern. This was what was said for panchali when she first makes an entry

Supreme among women, this beauty of

the dark complexion will bring about the destruction of the Kshatriyas. In time, this one with

the beautiful waist will perform the objective of the gods. From her will arise terrible fear

among the Kshatriyas

https://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/mbs/mbs01155.htm

If you believe divinity this was. A prophecy and if not this was a plan

And panchali was a girl whom the "gods" whoever they were based on which angle we beileve trusted to excute the plan successfully. A beautiful intelligent gutsy woman with higher purpose in life

No i am sorry she was not born for arjun or anybody else sakes. She has higher purpose to serve

None of the pandava deserved her.

Arjuna and others helped yes but later Intially it was panchali only.

Lol panchali had higher purpose to serve so no arjuna has got absolutely nothing to do with drapaudi s entry

I have already given the citation so you can see

If this is a MB retelecast thread we did be relying on what is shown in SP MB and (unfortunately) it shows Draupadi loving Arjun, Draupadi calling Karna Sootputra, Draupadi laughing as a dasi called Duryodhan Andhe ka putra. So even if these are wrong inferences, this is what is shown. That's what is some of our basis of discussion, likes or dislikes.

However, if there is a thread to discuss the epic, it should have citations.

Everyone is free to have a pov. We need to be respectful of each other's pov.

No one can deny that Draupadi's marriage was the first reason why Pandavas could dare to expose themselves to public. Else they would have perished as commoners.

Her dowry helped them built Indraprasth since Dhritrashtra only gave them land not treasury share.

However once given the dowry belonged to the grooms n not the girl herself(, girls only had right on the StreeDhan). Panchali was in charge of the treasury just as Arjun was in charge of the army. In modern day terms she was like the Finance minister of Indraprasth. But neither does it mean that she was the owner of treasury, nor that she had more power than Yudhishtir.

She definitely was better than Yudhishtir or for that matter all the Pandavas in intellect but unfortunately the standards of those days couldn't give justice to her intellect

In fact after the war, Yudhishtir actually took the Financial ministry from her. He was a complete bigot
