Lootera- it's my favourite kind of period film, where sets and lighting are not opulent like SLB's, but simple and authentic to the period with gorgeous photography

Udaan- Ditto and such a sensitive story

Mughal E Azam- grand daddy of all period epics and absolutely mesmerising

Laila Majnu- saw it recently, it is uneven but some parts are sheer magic with Avinash acting the hell out of it

Dont kill me for the last two but also :

Rockstar- The story and actual plot is shit but Rehman's music is soulful and although I hate these cancer plot lines and hero as "gumsum aashique" stories but after Rockstar I was only thinking of how otherworldly the songs were and how they took over the film

Wake Up Sid- Love how the city has been shot and with Konkona and Ranbir's chemistry..the film is very smooth and sweet and there's something about it

Maqbool- It looks a bit dated if you compare it to today's good looking films and it's also dark but it is just absolutely Shakespeare's story in motion!

Lootera, Udaan, October all leave u with deep thoughts. I recall being silent during their end credits n it took me some time to snap out of tht zone.
I’d also incl. Water and Raincoat (Not popular choices but I personally love them).

I loved Haider ... the relationship he shares with his mother, attachment to his dad, all of that with a temporary sense of calm and comfort in the middle of indopak violence in Kashmir... that’s poetry. Tabu’s relationship with the other guy and shahid’s disdain and vengeance ....and his attempt to open his mother’s eyes... it’s all full of symbolism and poetry. Rooh was another poetry in motion himself. I’d have preferred a different actress opposite shahid though... Shraddha underwhelms me, but that could be what others like about her.

Wazir blew my mind too, and so did the less talked about Tamasha—the way they portrayed the internal tug of war between passion and livelihood was so unique!

Thanks for mentioning Raincoat otherwise I was going to do that. I just adore that movie so much. One of the best screenplay I have witnessed.

ANother one is musical- Jagga Jasoos - that movie is quite poetic and if watched as a movie meant for kids is quite good.
