Tahir Raj Bahsin as Karan Rastogi in Mardani and Vishal Jethwa as Sunny in its franchise ...

Both thes villians were so versatile -- suave and innocent at one instant and extremely sinister and creepy the next.

Kudos to both Tahir and Vishal who still stole the limelight from the respective movies despite sharing screen space alongside powerhouse performer like Rani Mukherjee.

Hope to see them in better projects in future -- soon.

Couldn't have said it better.😊

Yes, for me the antagonists stood out in both films - and this despite Rani being a great actress and seasoned performer. I think great detail was paid to the characterisation of these villains and it showed. Kudos to the makers for envisioning such multi-layered villains and kudos to Tahir and Vishal for their masterful execution!

This+++

That is what i liked the most about the movie.

Firstly, both the antagonists were so properly etched out, with proper back-stories and consequent character arc for both. They were not "caricaturish" archetype of typical Bollywood villains (although the mold and projection both are getting shattered slowly but steadily, especially in recent times) who are there just to make protagonists' life "hellish". We have seen a good actor play his/her "supporting role" alongside a protagonist and get both critical and commercial appreciation. But how often does one get to see an antagonist shine and take away the limelight?

Secondly, both these antagonists were "newcomers". Kudos to the casting team, the ones who "spotted" and selected them. Everything could have gone wrong -- the movie, the antagonists' characterization had they picked up talented yet less-versatile actors. Both the antagonists needed to portray, as you say, multi-layered, multi-faceted role each. Lesser actors, and the whole franchise could have gone for a toss..

Then the pressure of working under "YRF" that too alongside a stellar actor like Rani.. Had it been for less than masterful direction, all the spotlight could have fallen on "Shivani Shivaji Roy" alone instead of "Walt/Karan Rastogi" and "Sunny/Vajrang" alongside the lady cop. But instead, the protagonist and antagonists ended up bringing out the best in each other -- Total synergy in work because of an absolutely great team work.

Result -- Great movies!!!

Thanks and Kudos to everyone.
