You want Rajeev to be 100% sure before he writes such vicious gossip whereas you will malign some one's character on the basis of some pics on the internet. If this is not hypocrisy then what is.

Blinds are wrong. Vicious and nasty rumors are also wrong. I hope over all Bollywood can become a kinder place. But all this should happen universally. Not selectively. Be kind to those you like and vicious to those you dont. Then there is no difference.

So , unless every single fan of Sushant "universally" denounces all the blinds , all the trolling of all the celebs and have a spotless clean record of being a saint since the inception of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, they don't have a right to comment about how blinds (and not just Rajeev's but even other portals) , may have contributed to his fragile state of mind?

I don't understand this whataboutery argument. Yes, brutal trolling and rape threats etc are horrible, but I don't understand the logic of bringing up that and saying "What about what you fans are doing?! You are bad people, so don't question the actions of other shitty people"

Moreover , like others have said, there is a difference between trollers and even fans politely (but firmly) criticising) certain things on social media, and an actual paid film journalist writing certain things.

Rajeev (and even other BI writers) can think, know or not know a lot of things. It is a very hard thing to prove or criminalize. But fans will talk and continue to question his/their ethics. Because it can be either of the two things - Either the MeToo (among other) rumors were made up out of thin air by the writers or they get hired by whichever PR team or individual to write them and target certain actors. Either way, they come across as shitty individuals.

Sure, Bollywood can be a kinder place. But I don't think people demanding some kind of action (even a small rap on the wrist), would prove to be any kind of hindrance in Bollywood moving ahead with its quest of becoming an epitome of kindness. That can happen in parallel.

(P.S. I personally DON'T KNOW or don't know what to think about whether any of this triggered and caused the tragedy. But regardless of what comes out of the investigation, or even if nothing comes out or is proved, the criticism of certain journalistic practices remains VALID . I hope, even after the investigation is formally completed, fans of all celebs continue to denounce this . Because this conversation can be delinked as just a point of investigation for abetment of suicide and still be continued. And aid in Bollywood becoming a kinder place)

But Rhea herself publicly announced in her video while happily giggling and locking hands with Mahesh Bhatt that she does not care about what people have to say about those pics and that she has been baptized by her buddha 😆 So if Rhea herself is claiming she doesn't care about what people say about the pics then why are you worried for her?

Why would any casual reader or someone who isn't a fan of a celeb think twice before believing or not believing certain things? And if they do, are you seriously equating a reader with the person writing the article?!

And i 100% agree to this. Some allegations are very serious and can malign some one's character and their mental health hence we must be 100 % sure and have solid evidence before doing so. And hence Rajeev is accountable if he has done this without solid evidence but then this also applied to Rhea no? And so what if the intensity of discussions right now is because of SSR? Does that invalidate the merit of those discussions? Why expect the fans or even the casual Bollywood gossip readers to spend some time doing thesis or research work on all blinds on all insiders and outsiders and everytime they post on social media , to put some declaration "I am against all blinds and nasty gossip, and not just Sushant's, but I am speaking about it in Sushant's context because of the tragedy".

And have you ever considered that all online fans (or even those not online) are not diligent fans of ALL celebs? Why do you think it is ALL hypocrisy?

A fan of celeb X might believe gossip or even a BI on celeb Y , OR might not be up in arms to defend Y not because the fan supports blind items or gossip, but because they just don't know much about Y? They don't know Y's work, or may have not followed Y's interviews or behind the scenes footage etc?

Journos write, we consume as readers. A small percentage do troll viciously . There are also casual readers who come across it, take it as face value , subconsciously start believing it after repeatedly reading a particular narrative , but don't spend time discussing it on SM. Then there are industry people too who consume it and react to it their own way .

I don't get your reasoning where you are appropriating such a large portion of blame on the readers!! It is not the same as the journalist writing it! Yes, the trolling is vicious and anything that can be prosecuted via cyber police, should.

Regarding your bold statement and the one after it, cool! That's pretty much what this topic was about I think.
