All news and information available here indicates that AZ vaccine is front runner. Phase 1 data will be published tomorrow. Looking forward to that. US has secured 300 mil vaccines while AZ has committed to manufacture 2 bil worldwide. Phase 3 trials are ongoing in 30000 volunteers. Lokmat news is only a speculation. Here too October seems to be the timeline so far for that vaccine.

Though the phase 1 peer appraised report is to be officially announced tomorrow, it looks like the results have already been widely leaked and the news seems to be very positive

In one of the interviews with Poonawala of Serum Institute he has bet hugely on the Oxford vaccine and probably already manufactured large quantities of the vaccine in anticipation of a positive report in phase 3. He says he is willing to write off that amount if it does not work.

Absolutely. Purely commercial decision. But it might turn out to be lucky for Indians.

Isn't it going to slowly but surely taper off. The curve will flatten like NY or Mumbai after reaching certain peak levels ?

@mishkil-Provided social distancing is practiced and masks are used all the time when outside home.

Yes, looks like it and that level is much below the 70% or so threshhold levels for herd immunity which was advertised earlier. NY has certainly come down drastically after reaching a high. I am not yet sure about Mumbai as testing is so low. The numbers have been flat for about 1 and half month now but not coming down.

But, it is quite possible the virus will taper off before the vaccine comes.
