Ranbir Kapoor is one note, he cannot do varying roles, he does well in coming of age or growing up movies.

He is a good actor, are there talent better than him? absolutely

AvinashTiwary ( I have just seen one movie of him, it's been ages a debuntant had given this level of performance)

if you're speaking about Bollywood this are actors who are far better than acting than ranbir if given a chance.

Firstly we have to narrow down the list.

So we will narrow it down to actors with whom Ranbir is competing with those who are popular leading male actor, or those who are trying to be popular

So that means the likes of Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Bajpayee, Kay Kay Menon, Vijay Raaz, Ronit Roy and so on are out, and yes they are all better than Ranbir in terms of acting, come on they are. They are all actors actor, they are obviously better than every mainstream lead actors.

Now we should also exclude gve veterans like Anupam, Naseer, AB Sr and so on. And yes they are also better.

Now we will lay the set for those who are in the same space or higher space or trying to get in the space with him, the three Khans, Akki, Ajay, HR, Varun, Tiger, Ranbir, RKR, Shahid, Ayushmann, Kartik, Vikrant Massey and so on.

The one who I think is clearly better is: RKR.

Those who are better or at least on par: Shahid and Ajay.

Those who are good actors but not better than Ranbir: Ayushmann, Aamir, Vikrant Massey, Ranveer, Hrithik and to some extent SRK.

Baaki Akki is an average actor capable of delivering good performances once is a while, Kartik hasn't done much while Tiger and Varun while capable of carrying movies tl entertain audience, aren't really much to talk about.

Amongst his contemporaries, I mean somewhere near to his age, not The generation of Khans and Hrithik ,I find RKR. Shahid is good too. Every actor has their limitations and plus points. Even Ranveer in some genre is better than Ranbir and Vice Versa.

Depends on what genre, actually. Ranbir works best in a certain type of films (everyone already knows what type).

I don't consider him a versatile actor. There are tonnes of genres he can't do (eg: masala, action- Varun, tiger & Ranveer fare much better in these) I don't find his dialogue delivery that good (among young actors I think Vicky Kaushal is really good in this department for ex. in manmarziyan and sanju), imo he will fall flat in hard hitting roles (Nawaz in GOW for example).

I doubt Ranbir would be able to do Andhadhun & Article 15: Ayushman carried these characters with a terrific mix of sleek charm, vulnerability and grit.

I haven't seen Ranbir do well in romance either. Take Vicky, Irfan and Ranveer's roles in masaan, lunchbox and lootera for example (I am talking about true blue romance movies here, not sh*tty romcoms).

Can Ranbir play an underconfident, vulnerable guy like Rajkummar and Vikrant played in Trapped & A Death in the Gunj? Idk.

What about historical movies? (Like Jodha Akbar? Bajirao Mastani? Dare I say, Baahubali??)

In the same way, the actors above won't be able to do Barfi. But then again, his suitability for that role has more to do with his looks ie. he looked cute in the film. I do think many of the actors I mentioned above would nail the expression and emotional aspect of the character.

All said and done, here is the thing:

Ranbir is a good actor. And yes, probably the best actor-star of his generation.

However, Ranbir is not, what most people in the media & industry like to portray him as: the GREATEST actor of his generation. There are many many genres he cannot do or we haven't seen him doing.

If you actually think about it Ranveer, Vicky Kaushal and even Varun have a more diverse filmography than him. Maybe brahmastra and shamshera will change this??

Only time will tell.

From the mainstream think Ranveer and Aamir are way better.
