Kumkum Bhagya's Mugdha Chapekar on shooting during pandemic: At home I have divided my personal stuff so that my family is at less risk

Mugdha Chapekar aka Prachi of popular TV show Kumkum Bhagya is super excited as the fresh episodes of the TV show have started airing from tonight. The actress recently spoke to ETimes TV and shared about going back on the sets during this pandemic and the precautions she has been taking. The actress also spoke about the challenges the actors are facing while shooting with new guidelines and how difficult it is to stay without mingling with her Kumkum Bhagya co-stars. Mugdha also stated that she prays that Parth Samthaan recovers soon and is back on the sets soon.

How excited are you as all the fresh episodes have started airing from tonight?

I am very excited that we have started shooting. Initially, we were very anxious because of the situation going on. But excitement is definitely there. Actually, we had never stopped shooting because during the lockdown we were shooting the lockdown special episodes. But we are very excited because normal episodes will go on-air from tonight and we will get to see the audience reaction on social media. It was fun.

Has there been any kind of nervousness as you started shooting on the sets during this pandemic?
I have been very particular about hygiene from the beginning. Be it washing or cleaning things, I have got products to clean stuff properly. From vegetables, fruits to everything, is washed properly before consuming it. At home I have divided my stuff like my cutlery and other stuff and have told my family that my things will not be used by them. I understand that I am staying with my family and these things always come to our mind first because I have my parents around. I make sure once I am back home from the shoot, I sanitize all my stuff from my basket to my phone, I take shower and only then I meet my family. It takes a minimum 1 and a half hour to do all of these after an entire day's work. It is very taxing but I know it is very important also. We have to do it, we have no choice.

How challenging has it been shooting with new guidelines?

It is very challenging just to be confined to your makeup room. If you have ever visited our Kumkum Bhagya sets, we all were always spotted in someone's makeup room. We never had this habit of being in our own makeup rooms, so now it has become very challenging. We would order food, have it together, have tea sessions, but now we have our food sitting alone in our own makeup rooms. It feels bad, but we have no other option, we will have to obey to the new guidelines as it is for our safety. The crew also is very efficient, there is always body temperature, pulse rate checking during entry and exit, there are sanitizers all over the sets. In fact, we have shot scenes wearing masks because we were shooting at a public place. Like there is a scene where we are shown shooting at a hotel in that particular scene we all wore masks. Though there were few less people in the shoot but still we took that precaution. We are kind of teaching people that the responsibility lies in our hands.

What did you do during lockdown?

I love doing household chores so I enjoyed doing that. I love cooking so I explored that, like whatever you say I will cook for you happily. I like spending time in the kitchen and can be there the entire day. I did riyaz for singing which I had not got an opportunity to do for a long time. I read a lot of books which I had left after reading half way. I did a lot of things during this break which I enjoy doing. We watched so many movies, series together. Mom, dad , Ravish and me, we watched a lot of stuff together. I think watching films and movies with family has its own charm. I spent a lot of time with my family.

Who are you the closest to on the sets of Kumkum Bhagya?

It is a very difficult question. If I will take one person's name from the cast, I will immediately get a call, 'tune mera naam kyun nahi liya'. I am close to everyone on the sets, and I can't take a single person's name. If I am stuck somewhere I call up Sriti Jha, I need some other help, I call up Aparna or Krishna and I am this is the same answer you will get from everyone in the star cast as we all are really close to each other.

How much are you missing Shikha Singh?

Yes, of course we are missing her. She has been part of the show for 5 to 6 years. She is such a fantastic actor. We actually did not get that much time to spend with her, but whenever we had scenes with her we had a good time. And she was doing this character for so long that Shikha has become Aliya for everyone. It is difficult and we are going to miss her.

Is there any kind of nervousness as Parth Samthaan who was also shooting in Killick Nixon where the sets of Kumkum Bhagya is also there has been tested COVID-19 positive?

Nobody knows who is carrying the virus and it is very difficult to say. We were discussing this a few days ago on the sets, that anyone could be carrying the virus. There are Asymptomatic people around and you will not come to know, so the only thing you can do from your end is to maintain hygiene and take precautions. The best thing we can do is to be extra careful on the sets and towards our family. I just hope and pray that Parth Samthaan recovers very soon and is back to work.
