Fawad was lead in the movie, not supporting. And Jim Sarbh was hands down the best supporting actor in a popular movie that year.
Ridiculous was Anil Kapoor in DDD winning over Nawaz in Badlapur and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Not defending Filmfare but I think the debut award is largely a popular award. I've rarely seen actors with flop debuts win it. Also, I know everyone likes to complain that they are just given to star kids but actually a lot of outsiders have won. They generally give it to the breakout star of the year.

Sooraj Pancholi winning it was a joke though.
Thinking of it, damn Sallu's star power at that time was sky high, just because he sang an auto tuned song in the movie, it opened at over 6 crores(or nearly 6crores, can't remember the figures).
