Forgive me if I sound harsh but yes, in one perspective Bheeshma was also a very prominent root cause of the war. He had his own definitions of dharma which ultimately just seemed reduced to one thing - the oath that he had taken for Shantanu. He stood like a rock but he should've moulded himself like clay, according to the times.
Secondly, I don't like Gandhari - she could've chosen to see the world and guide her sons and also be Dhrithrashtra's eyes but she chose to blindfold herself. Okay I get the equality stuff but again, the need of the hour was something else. Dhrithrashtra- I despise him like no one else, his insecurity poisoned everything, coupled with Shakuni's inputs. Even Kunti, probably could've been stronger and more stringent when it came to the rights of her sons but probably didn't bother.
PS: I know it is easy to comment but yeah, this is it.
