And thats where nepotism betrays audience ..
You remember 3 star kids with pathetic faces but you cannot remember a striking outsider ..
LOL I know about Tripti from Laila Majnu back in 2017, at a time when this forum didn't even give a damn about who the hell she was let alone the new found love for her after Bulbbul. Sorry I don't need nepotism to betray me. I can bet my life that I know about outsider actors and actresses who have even done 5 minute roles in films more than the knowledge 95% of this forum has about outsiders and struggling actors and actresses. That's why it takes a digital film for the forum to discover Tripti when she already made a critically acclaimed debut in LM, that's why it takes a Patal Lok for the forum to go crazy about Abhishek Banerjee when he already played a critically acclaimed antagonist in this film called Ajji and R Rao's friend in Stree.
You (this forum) can't blame everything on nepotism when you yourself don't bother to watch their films when these outsiders get a break in the film industry. And mind you, Laila Majnu was a heavily promoted film with its amazing songs. So was Stree that was widely watched. And then claim how the industry was brutal towards them. And anyways my point of memorable face didn't have anything to do with beauty or her being striking. Like I said, it's about the impact you left in your film in whatever way. That's the reason I could place Avinash Tiwari in the trailer of the film despite the wig because of the impact he left in Lalila Majnu. That's why I had no difficulty placing who this girl was in Pink because she had already left a lasting impact in her 15 minute role in Baby that was Taapsee. That's why it wasn't difficult to place who is playing Anjana in Four more shots because Kirti left an impact in Pink. That's what's called having a memorable face. It's not about whether you have a pathetic or striking face. Looks ka achaar dalunga kya main?
And I didn't bring in Janhvi, Sara, Alia into the equation, the TM did. I replied obviously knowing the fact that it is the marketing of these star kids that already makes them known to us before they do films and that's the reason I brought Kriti Sanon and Taapsee into the picture and also mentioned Sara specifically because even if she wasn't a star kid, she would have a memorable face with respect to her performance in her debut film Kedarnath.
I mean obviously star kids have an edge over outsiders with marketing and articles among other things in mainstream media and I can understand the general public not knowing outsiders but I am talking about this forum that literally survives on Bollywood news and articles, film discussions 24*7 and atleast they need to know better and give outsiders a chance. Throughout my existence in this forum for the last decade, 90% of my topics have been trailers and articles about lesser known films that no one gives a fk about in the real world and atleast try to promote them starring outsiders but I remember only BI, shweta sai and altgr commenting on them and finding them interesting. Not a single reply other than them because this very forum that goes on about nepotism 24*7 doesn't give a damn about the same outsiders they are now defending when their films release. If people had actually gone to watch Laila Majnu, then she wouldn't had to struggle so hard to finally find Bulbbul after two years for the forum to go whoz dat girl wow omg. Because unfortunately that's how outsiders will survive in an industry infested with starkids.
That's why I've distanced myself from all nepotism discussions in the forum because I've realized people here are as hypocritical as the industry and star kids. You don't give chance to outsiders, give 100+ pages traction to what Kjo-Alia-Ranbir said in a topic and then cry why isn't anyone giving chance to outsiders. Sorry please spare me the drama.
