Anga is in modern day Bihar, Jharkhand (neighbor state) has the best iron reserves in India today along with best quality coal reserves as well. Ancient Jharkhand folklores have mentions that smelting was done there.
Anga could have had relations with the tribals of Chotanagpur (Jharkhand) who despite not very technologically sound could make the best quality stuff owing to the best quality raw materials
Considering the manipulator Karna was he might have made an exclusive contract with the innocent tribals
Remember Sonpur is in Anga area. That has been the biggest trade fair in India for time immemorial. Chhotnagpur people wouldn't have had much external exposure anyway they would have wanted to be in Anga's good books
