Whole world is cruel. An we all just have to make our way thru it.

We have to be careful here, we’re starting to tread in murky waters. My heart goes out to Sushant but I doubt that his decision to end his life was as simple or one dimensional as just Karan Johar. I’m sure a multitude of factors must have contributed to him feeling so trapped that he felt no other option but to end his life. Unfortunately we will never find out the full story of what was going on in his head the days prior.

I can only presume he must have been in so much pain. So please, we have to stop assuming we know what lead to his death.

To get easier funding, perhaps? Note how biggies like SLB, Hirani or Rohit Shetty don't go after these less talented starkids? Yes they may still cast starkids but they always cast the best ones (Ranbir, Ranveer, Hrithik) and never cast the bad ones. The smaller directors don't get automatic funding for their projects, so having a star kid attached to your project helps because through connections they can secure some financing which will help get the movie made. Even if the film ever gets stuck, they know someone like an Anil Kapoor will pull any strings to get the film released.

Yes, it may not be their ideal casting, but if they direct well, they can still make a 7/10 or an 8/10 film instead of a 9/10 or a 10/10 film. But what's the point of making a 9/10 or 10/10 movie, when it will never get proper funding or distrbuting to see a wide release in theatres? So these directors make that compromise.

I don't think they have some conspiracy to help starkids thrive. They are just trying to survive in this cut-throat business.

The problem is not one KJo....its the people in power who uses it in wrong ways. Arm twisting and pressuring into getting their way.

And this happens in every damn arena, especially creative fields. I was dropped from a project just to give space to an insider's niece, who let me tell you was just starting off and I was an experienced employee.

They bully and in a room full of these elitists they look at you as if its your fault that you reached here struggling.

PEOPLE IN POWER NEEDS TO HAVE MORE EMPATHY, not saying that they only need to employ someone they didn't know but lets keep it to someone who's fit for the job.

And yea BULLYING IS A MORAL CRIME.

Casting changes happen for various reasons. There’s a story of a Hero who wanted same heroine for several films cause he thought it would increase his chances and it would lead to them having sex.You tell me you sympathize on the people who lost work or the girl who was made a prize in some Douchebags twisted game ??? This is the world we live in.

One also has to understand that the so called producers decisions are driven by commerce...it takes a very tactful, sharp and large hearted person to invest on rank outsider newcomers (even small budget) ... lot of people aren’t that because they fear losing money, company , their reputation

We as the audience are a major part of the problem too

When saawariya was abt to release people were all excited to see Rishi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor s offspring..heck saawariya was designed like old raj Kapoor movies and there was legit curiosity abt it and ppl even supported it against oso until the release happened and it bombed

On the other hand, who gave a crap about Vicky donor until it got good reviews? ayushman was debuting and he never had any hysteria associated with him despite being a known face

we get excited abt pedigree, legacy, so n sos son / daughter...so producers invest in THem to begin with and give them a preference over outsiders

This whole movement of supporting outsiders started now / recently post kangana/ tapsee etc spoke out and he word nepotism blew out

Before that we were more than happy to continue watching star kids. The only major success stories between the 80s and 90s and 2000s that can’t be attributed to nepotism is srk and Akshay Kumar. That should tell u a lot.

People cast actors who are commercially viable because it's a business. Nepo kids come with built in names and people are curious and will go check them out. That won't happen if you try to launch random new people.

Look how obsessed people are with someone like Shanaya Kapoor. There are posts about her every damn day and she is not even the kid of a big star. Just being in the industry is enough. They know the audience is already interested.

Nobody has any evil intent. They just want their films to make money and get attention.
