BW actresses compared to HW actresses?

Firstly, a disclaimer. Let's remove variables and unknowns before discussing this. I know there are a lot of factors like casting couch etc. which influences the filtering of talent in both BW and HW.

But don't you think in Bollywood there's more emphasis on glamour and looks and being a 'complete package' than Hollywood? In HW, acting is the pre-requisite and even actresses who are known for their sultry looks and setting the screen on fire with their oomph, have a certain respectability when it comes to acting chops. Megan Fox, for example. She's a pretty good actress, even though she is often slotted as the sex siren.

Don't you think BW actresses are--

1. More commodified

2. Lagging behind in the acting aspect

What prompted me to make this post is watching this video. Each of these actresses is so talented. Only Kangana, Vidya, and PC comes to my mind as talented -- REALLY talented -- in our 21st century Bollywood. Even Deepika is nowhere close.

I know comparing BW and HW is like comparing apples to oranges, because the requirements of the 2 industries are very different from each other...but still...

Jennifer lawrence who was once called the greatest thing in hw act the same in most movies and falls flat in many. Her oscar winning role she did nothing special. Many bw actresses or asian actresses r better than her.

Nope she is not. Period! No wonder she is over now😃 hype is gone with very less projects. No box office power. She was Media hype only and is now on way to be has been😃

I wonder how much of that was down to Weinstein.

Hype around J law died out in recent years when people got tired of her antics to appear too cool and relatable. She's a terrific actress tho. Watched mother last week and it's a superb movie.

Yes they are different cause its different industries. Different expectations

Megan Fox/Angelina Jolie disagree. And even Elizabeth Taylor widely considered as an average actress had a long run. Joan Crawford too, lots of actresses with limited abilities.
