I m surprised nobody cited Pune in the topic of vada pavs 😀... Puneris are not far behind ... I do not know the scene now but in 1995 when I did a internship project with Bajaj auto at Nigdi( Pune) , it was a common practice that a few workers there from neighbouring companies such as Telco , Bajaj tempo etc would set up stalls in the evening ... They would dish out the crunchiest and most fluffiest vada pavs served with fried chilli ... A few night shift workers would also serve misal pav in the morning ..

If you are in Goregaon East do check out Satkaar rice plate house. Has been around for at least 40 years. Yummy fish thali. Also, Shri Datta snack spot, Jayprakash Nagar, Goregaon east. Lots of Maharashtrian snacks, like Kothimbir vadi, Thalipeeth, Sabadana vada, Sabudana Khichdi, Upma, pohe, laadoos, misal, upvaas misal.

I hvnt been to prakash for longest time so no idea abt the taste or quality of food recently.

yes but in dadar itself there are few more authentic Marathi restaurants. Mama Kane & 2-3 more. One is opposite Kohinoor cinema and another near Sena bhawan.

I havent had anything at mama kane but my dad constantly harps abt batata wada at mama kane n my mom hates it as she makes it 100% better than that mama kane😂

My Baba took me once to Mama Kane and we had thalipeeth. It was the deep fried kind and I did not like it. Because my Aai does not make it like that. Baba called me Aai's chamchi😃

The other two restaurants in dadar apart from Prakash - one is Aswaad. Other one I am trying to recollect.

I know there is sujata my atyas senior citizen grp At sp used to eat big breakfast 🙃everyday after their so called exercise rounds at sp

N there was visawa near kabutar khana i think which was popular for falooda or something

If u visit mumbai do get khamang bhajani for thalipeeth from madhav stores on ranade rd . The shop is matchbox size with typical kuchkat marathi owners but whenever i make thalipeeth out of that bhajani its awesome🥰

Visawa is more like an Udupi rather than authentic Maharashtrian.
