For me it's not even a comparison, Mughal E Azam by landslide.

Jodha Akbar is definitely a personal favourite because I relate to the dialogues, the style, the music more. No one ever looked as stunning together/individually as the leads did in JA. The film gives you a mix of everything; war, romance, rivalry etc..

But cinematically, Mughal-E-Azam is miles ahead, esp given the era it was made in, where such grandeur was rare. Also, watching Dilip Kumar/Madhubala romance in that film was like poetry in motion. The soundtrack was also brilliant, with amazing choreography. I do wish I got to see in the theatre.

I think the one thing that Mughal-E-Azam lacks, despite being such a masterpiece, is that its not something I will re-watch again & again, unlike Jodha Akbar which is far more easier/pleasant on the eyes. Again, maybe its to do with the fact that one can relate to Jodha Akbar more. I love both films, nonetheless.

This is a no brainer

There is no comparison at all - mughal e azam is by far better than other two by miles and many decades

Story - MEA and JA are equal

Execution - MEA

Sets - by far MEA

Songs and dance - MEA

Dialogues - MEA

Acting - Prithviraj kapoor as Akbar was far better than Hrithik. He even felt and looked like a Akbar. Hrithik looked like a model stutting as emperor.

Can we even compare a madubala to aishwarya be it acting or dancing. Even beauty wise madhubala gives tough competition to miss world ash

Dilip kumar as Salim - even amitabh bachan and dharmendra etc consider him as inspiration in acting. So hes no comparison to a hrithik or srk who do not really know much of acting but only show off their looks. Although hrithik acted better in JA than many of his other movies thanks to ashutosh gowariker. Ranveer singh is better actor than Hrithik because he does method acting but he over acts in scenes rather than underplay like a dilip kumar

Even side actors were better in MEA

Comparing MEA to JA and BM is like comparing Don Bradman or Micheal Phelps to others in their field. Other movies will come and go but MEA will be remembered after another 50 or 100 years too because it had quality using minimum technology of that time. Imagine in 1960 no computer no color or techni color no proper cameras Mega pixel is very low yet if they can make such a good movie than in 2010 or 2015 what they would have done with MEA now? The quality was much better of MEA be it dialogues, songs, dance, acting, sets, direction etc and also many side characters had good scripting. It was not only about an akbar v/s salim or a salim and anarkali. It was about a bahar v/s anarkali, or a one side love of bahar to salim, father son relationship, friendship of salim and durjan etc i mean lots of other charcaters had scope not only salim and anrakali or akbar.

I would say MEA than JA than BM in that order

And i am saying this despite being from this gen - i had watched ja as a kid

I watched MEA recently and felt it was superior in quality terms

Jodha Akbar def has more repeat value for me. I don’t want to take any respect away from Mughal-Azam. My parents tell me it was a special film. But I didn’t relate to the dialogues, love story among other things due to the fact it was made in a different time.

Bajaro Mastani umm I might get into trouble Ranveer Deepika don’t have the same chemistry onscreen that they do offscreen. Also I felt bad for PC.

Jodhaa Akbar has more repeat value than MEA for me. Everything from the sets to the costume to HA chemistry to the dialogues and songs were spectacular and are still eye pleasing. Its a feel good movie, I love watching this movie on rainy days, and I spent my lockdown watching this movie on repeat 😆 their sword fight was oozing chemistry! I could feel their tension ❤️

MEA can be watched once but I don’t connect to the movie that much as the era is different.

Never watched BM so can’t judge it but going by the posters, I don’t feel like watching it.
