It is the younger generation that likes these shows. These serials are quite popular on IF itself, pages and pages are written about them.

Mainly the Indian diaspora watch our shows abroad.

I remember seeing fan pages on Madhubala, Drashti and Vivian from Turkey. So there are people who watch it. Indian shows are generally dramatic and regressive but our romance based shows are popular. IPK, Madhubala and those Star One shows like DMG, PKYEK and MJHT...generally Indian romance based shows are very fluffy and cute, those eye locks and innocent hugs were more enjoyable imo I still binge watch them old shows 😆

I think the actresses are mainly Sanaya, Drashti, Rati (during her prime), Hina, Mouni with the most number of fans being of Sanaya, Drashti and Mouni.

Drashti and sanaya are quiet popular in many countries.I saw there fans from Indonesia ,Russia, arab ,china, turkey egypt, thailand, Malaysia and south africa and many more countries. They are popular because of their shows .Drashti for geet, mb and ETR2 and sanaya for ipk and rangrasiya. But i noticed there are fans of gopi bahu also the old one i think jia and recently i heard naagin also got very popular in many countries too.Mouni became popular because of naagin.

For you that might be regressive for many it is not.

Only women characters are strong and independent on Indian TV shows. This is true right from the time of Udaan, Rajni, Arohan and many other serials. It is a misconception that has been spread for quite some time that Indian shows are regressive.

Udaan started quiet good but plz it became mess after main lead married a person who got her sister pregnant and then backed out from responsibility of unborn child and then he was whitewashed.I don't what progessive thing was shown in that show.

For it's time it was progressive . People foolishly apply values of one time to another time to arrive at weird conclusion.
