What i meant is what our shows are lacking a strong woman character.There are very less Indian shows where woman are shown something other than being mahaan.In reality no one is so perfect every one has positive and grey area.Most of our heroes have still some grey characters most of our female characters all about sacrifices.

For you that might be regressive for many it is not.

Only women characters are strong and independent on Indian TV shows. This is true right from the time of Udaan, Rajni, Arohan and many other serials. It is a misconception that has been spread for quite some time that Indian shows are regressive.

Mainly the Indian diaspora watch our shows abroad.

I remember seeing fan pages on Madhubala, Drashti and Vivian from Turkey. So there are people who watch it. Indian shows are generally dramatic and regressive but our romance based shows are popular. IPK, Madhubala and those Star One shows like DMG, PKYEK and MJHT...generally Indian romance based shows are very fluffy and cute, those eye locks and innocent hugs were more enjoyable imo I still binge watch them old shows 😆

I think the actresses are mainly Sanaya, Drashti, Rati (during her prime), Hina, Mouni with the most number of fans being of Sanaya, Drashti and Mouni.
