4) Does crying wife/lady is all we've got? There are so many options like science fictions, Crime, Noir, Political, Dystopia/End-of-the-world, Fantasy (Don't say, we have mythical like naagins, just don't!😳), Musical, Historic Drama or Military drama?

Genre is a gift!!

Even foreign Anime does well!! Why do we have clichéd animated shows? With bad CGI? India is among the LARGEST IT hubs, and we lack something related to graphics? That's shame right there! We seriously are way more talented and hardworking than this. This ‘Anything-will-do’ attitude has to GO!

About genre, Indian shows should cater to Indian sensibilities and focus on issues specific to the Indian way of life.

Domestic violence and wife being neglected at home are unfortunately still relevant in the Indian context. So I agree that they should diversify in their genre but I don’t think that what we have is completely irrelevant

CGI involves a lot of cost. So you got the answer there.

So someone was watching this show Never Have I Ever on Netflix in front of my mom. Damn! Should have seen her reactions! 😆

As I said, we can’t simply ape the west. The shows should cater to Indian sensibilities.

Mind you my mom is pretty liberal compared to an average Indian mom. But there is only as.l much that they can accept. Like there was this scene where the girl proposes to have sex with a guy as if she was saying a Hi.

1) Instead of 5 days a week, all round the year episodes, bring limited, seasons wise episodes. It adds value to quality, cast and crew altogether. Audience would be following limited episodes with reruns eventually hoping for more seasons.

2) We Deserve Better, than a Ghost-Snake-Memory loss-Love Triangle! All this is just cliché. Writers need to take inspiration from foreign content and even old shows like Malgudi Days which makes us relate to characters, and get us excited for story! ITV really needs to make it happen!!

3) Go global! Take topics like LGBT, Racism, Wars, Economic Depression and make shows that's actually worth watching, enlightening and beaming with knowledge!! If TV shows improve, they will teach a lot more to Indian population than movies, because India is one of most Television owned country I suppose. If most of them watch TV, and there's actual content that makes us learn on what else is going on in the world, we'd eradicate illiteracy way more easily than anything else. Entertainment should become India's strength!!!

Whoa. Those are way beyond the understanding of the average Indian. Will take a long time. I think we are taking baby steps in films and web.

Honestly, I am not a person fond of typing long posts but today I got the dedication only because of her😆 I really wanted to instigate her to come by and post🤣(instigate ain't used in bad sense here; couldn't think of a softer synonym😉)

I will reply to all but right now, I've got to go to bed and get some sleep! Will be back tomorrow afternoon after my classes are done😳😉

TBH, I do enjoy reading your arguments😛 Kinda gives me another outlook but I still hold on to my theories😆

😆🤣

I know just what happened! So this show PKDHMMPP was airing in the afternoon slot when KHKT was on air. They might have put this scroll back then. The channel is prolly re-airing the same episodes that it telecast back then but forgot about the scrolls.

Haha. No. For a long time from now, OTT services are not a threat to ITV. ITV is still pretty popular among rural folk who generally watch more TV than their urban counterparts. Even in the urban areas, people who watch ITV do it out of routine. So once shows start again, they’d get into that routine.

And then there comes the cost. The cost of OTT is internet cost + subscription cost. Other than Netflix, subscription cost for all other OTTs are pretty reasonable for the average Indian. But internet costs are very high. Internet penetration is still very low compared to TV penetration in India.
No wonder TV actors are paid much more than web actors. This won’t change for a long time now.

Yes I know I sounded stupid in the warning😆... I was laughing myself while typing it out😛😆

As if anything was gonna change with warning🤣

I very well know TV is here to stay for the longest of times and is not going to get replaced because people watch it🤔

But watching bahus struggle against evil relatives, logic defying plot twists and medical miracles on repeat, has disillusioned many of us from what we rightfully call the idiot box.😛 My mom literally used to tell me that useless people watch television shows😆 (in an attempt to keep me away from TV😆).

I felt like a braveheart when I seeked permission from her to watch KHKT (I know it's funny, but she still keeps a check on what I watch) ...

No wonder, many are rapidly moving towards web series, which are heavy on content rather than melodrama. But content is not the only reason why web series have been successful in grabbing our eyeballs. They have also made it a point to quench our thirst for diverse subjects and issues. ⭐️

It will be ages before we will able to get rid of the plague that is devouring the content from our daily soaps🤓. If people are going to watch it, television is going to showcase it. We can cry all we want about the idiocy of such shows. But there is no escaping the fact that such shows will always find an audience. (I know I am echoing your thoughts, coz I agree😛😆).

We can only hope that the web series will find a bigger market and eventually generate more revenue than their television counterparts😳😎. Maybe, the latter will start thinking about reinventing itself only then🤔

No warning from my end will help¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 😆

Underlined: Obviously it should😆 but that doesn't mean there aren't any other topics than domestic violence in India!

Bold:

Okay, this will get long😆...

Indian animation market basically started like a decade ago from services that came from the West. When the animation industry started here, the primary concepts they've looked into was mythological stuff as compared to the West where they’d created characters like Spiderman and Batman...

One major reason (for focusing on mythological content) was that we didn’t have the funds to invest in establishing new characters😔. Krishna or Hanuman, on the other hand, are already entrenched in the minds of people and so it’s easy to build stories on them... (I have been MUNing, so I have the researched on all this from CREDIBLE SOURCES ; telling you I am no kidding before you find it sarcastic😆)

Financial issue has always been there but the bigger picture involves creativity. The distributors and exhibitors (in India) still follow an extreme herd mentality. What is working, will work always. Until something new comes and works, they don’t realize that they weren’t thinking that way. The difference between us and the West as industries is that they are fine-tuned to think out of the box. They encourage creativity and different formats whereas here we only want to follow a formula until someone comes and rewrites it.😵

So yeah, you mentioned the monetary problems but this is the major one (But your point is true too, not denying that... Companies like Disney and Pixar spend millions of dollars, about $40-50 million each on a project🤔. So we are competing with global players with 4-7 times the budget that Indian animation can afford while our producers haven’t been able to attract international finance to do animation films that can compete globally😵....)

Sorry if anyone got bored😆
