It's a deep question. I think everyone is affected by the death of parent differently. Some people are very mature about it, especially if the parent was sick and/or aged and some people break down completely and are traumatised by it for the rest of their lives.
I think Ranbir knew his father was critically ill (he talked about it on stage in Zee Cine Awards etc) so the possibility of Rishi passing away was something he had considered. Of course the wound is super fresh, considering it's only been 4/5 days, and Rishi had completely recovered from his cancer, only relapsing as recently as Feb/Mar 2020... so the shock must still be there. That being said, Rakesh Roshan's comment about Ranbir comforting Rakesh instead goes to show Ranbir is taking it pretty maturely. So as far as 'growing up' due to death of the father goes, I think Ranbir is handling it fine. He's stepped up to his duties as the man of house and we can only hope that he stays strong and doesn't resort to vices such as alcohol and drugs to block the pain, like Sanjay Dutt had done after Nargis's death.
As far as the gossip/PR stuff/Casanova image goes, I think he always like to indulge in it while pretending he doesn't have a PR etc, so that will probably continue.
