Although this was more about Bhima's military capabilities - his tactical and strategic moves - that enabled him to maneuver his troops so that Anga's army wouldn't have a chance against him. It wasn't necessarily a head to head confrontation b/w the 2, which could have gone either way

No, every king remained the king of his own kingdom, he just had to recognize Yudhisthir as the samrat, or himself as a vassal of Indraprastha. So after that yagna, had Yudhisthir ever required the help of any of the kingdoms he subdued - including Anga - Karna would have had to oblige.
Once the game of dice saw an end to Yudhisthir's rule of Indraprastha, Karna was either a free agent, or a vassal of Dury. More likely, a free agent, since a lot of rulers who did get subdued during the Rajasuya yagna continued to support the Pandavas.

They were, but before they did, they could look up and see the fish directly to get an idea of its position. In Lakshmanaa's swayamvara, the fish's position was concealed, and only its reflection was somehow visible in the water. Which is why even Arjun barely grazed the fish, while Bhima and Karna just managed to lift/string the bow
