Five months is mentioned in both KMG and Kaliprasanna. 😳
"Bhishma said, 'The wheel of time revolves with its divisions, viz., with Kalas and Kasthas and Muhurtas and days and fortnights and months and constellations and planets and seasons and years. In consequence of their fractional excesses and the deviations of also of the heavenly bodies, there is an increase of two months in every five years. It seems to me that calculating this wise, there would be an excess of five months and twelve nights in thirteen years. Everything, therefore, that the sons of Pandu had promised, hath been exactly fulfilled by them. Knowing this to be certain, Vibhatsu hath made his appearance. All of them are high-souled and fully conversant with the meanings of the scriptures. How would they deviate from virtue that have Yudhishthira for their guide?
12 nights would explain the 13th day issue (I was confused, must've been misprint in Kaliprasanna's)

Ok so this is the confusion. Please read his statement carefully. He isn't not saying that Pandavas have stayed for 5 months extra. He says that there is an increase of 2 months every five years basis muhurats etc, hence going by that logic in 13 years there will be an excess of 5 months and 12 days. Do a maths 2 months in 5 years, 4 months in 10 years, 5 months in 12.5 years and therefore 5 months 12 days in 13 years.
In simple words going by the lunar calendar year, the there would be approximately a difference of 5 months and 12 days with respect to the solar calendar. When the solar calendar completes 13 years, it would be already 13 years and 5 months plus 12 days as per the lunar calendar, hence the virtues of Pandu Putra means that they completed the Agyatwaas
He means to say that although Duryodhan thinks that 13 years is not over owing to constellations, planets movements, muhurats etc. they have completed the same by simple month calculation
Majority have interpreted this as a confusion between the solar and lunar calendars.

I get you. 😊
But then, if Dury agrees there's an excess of 5months by the lunar calendar, automatically the solar with say, 13years exactly, right? So the point is, time cannot vary na, the units ka change might bring about a change in the apparent value, but the physical quantity would remain the same na?
So, either way, the agyaatvasa is complete. My initial point here was, however Dury tries to calculate, with or without 5 months, 13 years are done.
And to clear it: the passage means ke they met for the war like on the 1st day of the 14th year, ke last day of the 13th year? (I guess that was Dury's confusion too 😆)

The confusion here was the Duryodhan saw Arjun n Pandavas on the last day of 13th year (they changed into their royal attire the next day after defeating Kaurav n team in Virat war)
So Duryodhan was right in saying that he found them before the end of the Agyatwaas even if on the last day
However he could neither prove in time, (just a declaration doesn't meant much) nor did he interact with them within the stipulated time, hence Pandavas acceptance was clear that they successfully completed the Agyatwaas however Duryodhan was adamant on the single point he had in his favour that he saw them before the passage of 13 years
Bheeshm's reply was on the same things that even if they consider Duryodhan's point to be valid, Pandavas had already completed 13 years and 5+ months basis Lunar calendar. Plus since they hadn't decided earlier on which calendar they would follow, hence they might go for the shorter one ..
Definitely Pandavas were correct in saying that they have successfully completed the Agyatwaas, since they were not caught, no one could alter their conceal or prove that they were the Pandavas, aside the Agyatwaas if I am not mistaken was only for Yudhishtir and Draupadi, and Duryodhan didn't see them during Virat war(a minister and a royal servant needn't be on the battlefield I think) he only saw Arjun. (Correct me if I am wrong here). And despite not having had decided earlier which calendar to follow for this calculation, went for the longer one. But Duryodhan too did have at least one point in his support which can not be rejected straight
It's not his Baal hath actually it's his holding onto the only legal point which he somehow has in his support

Hmm. Interesting points. 😳
Anyhow Dury is hopeless. 😆
