He sat there contemplating over the prophecy spoken by the ladies of fate. It wasn’t something good anyway but what made him sour was the word love. He hated that word. Many stupid mortals sacrificed their lives for their so-called beloved ones. The unruly werewolves were always desperate for their mates. And the regalest, the vampires were delighted to be with their bonded ones. This was sickening for him. These so-called lovers, mates and bonded ones only made them weaker. Weaker and stupid. These lovers were nothing but destruction. Why sacrifice your whole life for this one person? Why be so stupid to destroy yourself? What profit will that give you anyway except sadness and destruction. Instead be heartless. Think about yourself first rather than someone else. He took sip from his goblet filled with rich red wine. As the wine seeped inside his body a warm feeling engulfed him. Out of no where the door creaked of his study revealing his friend Stephano from the other side. He usually hated such relations. Friends, family and lovers were just for those stupid mortals and supernatural beings. But he knew very well that Stephano deserved this recognition. Stephano seeing the goblet in his friend and superior’s hand spoke up, “Lucifer...” taking a dramatic pause he continued “What happened that you are drinking at such an odd hour?” Lucifer smirked and replied coyly, “I wasn’t knowing drinking has a time my dear friend. If so, then please grace me with the knowledge of it.” Stephano knew what was coming his way but still proceeded, “You very well know what I am talking about. It’s just you, jesting with me, isn’t it?” “Why will I do such an offensive crime? Jesting with you my dear? I can’t even dream about that.? Lucifer replied feigning innocence. “As innocent as you sound, we both know you don’t drink without a reason. What is the matter Lucifer?” Stephano asked with seriousness. Lucifer sighed knowing there wasn’t any escape. He got up from his majestic chair made of the finest ivory and went past his friend towards the window. He looked over the soft and serene night sky as he sipped from his goblet. “May your highness continue!” Stephano said as sarcasm dripped heavily from his words. If it was anyone else then he/she wouldn’t have been standing in front of him but because it was Stephano, he ignored it. “I was thinking about the prophecy which the ladies of fate uttered.” He said still staring at the sky. Stephano looked over the tall frame of the one in front of him and spoke, “You know you should stop contemplating about that thing. Its nothing but those old ladies hounding. Who listens to them anyway.” Lucifer stopped drinking and looked over his friend with eyes colder than the deepest pit of Tartarus. The way his glare was so cold but yet so intense made Stephano shiver with deep fear. Lucifer sensing his fear smirked, “Those ladies would be old and might sound like fools when they say but remember this well the heir of Valdez that never have their sayings been wrong. Every time when they have spoken something major has happened. Have you forgotten or are you pretending to be ignorant?” Lucifer spoke as the note of his voice grew dangerously low at the end. With such coldness he spoke that even the study looked darker than usual. “But Milord whenever the ladies have spoken that have always spoken for your benefit. Then what upsets you now?” Stephano asked formally as he knew disrespecting Lucifer at this moment will lead to his death. “I am in dilemma due to the fatal word Love. This word never gave me good vibes and when the ladies themselves uttered it I am sure that the prophecy this time isn’t going to be profitable to me in any manner.” Lucifer said as he turned back to gaze over the night sky again. Stephano hesitated a bit but gathering up his courage he asked, “Milord, forgive me for my curious nature but I have always wondered as to why do you have such an immense hatred for Love which is cherished by all the beings of the world. From weak mortals to powerful super naturals everyone desires this emotion then why such a disgust for it?” Lucifer stopped his hand which had the goblet. For a minute Stephano thought this was it. “Disgust you say? Its not disgust but disappointment at the stupid emotion love and the consequences of it. Love is the worst thing which can happen

Sorry re, wasn't feeling very social for the past few days. I didn't even read this until now.

I liked the conversation between Stephano and Lucifer. It is informative and I liked the tone of the conversation. The light humour in the beginning and then the transition into the formality. 👍🏼

And I think that this version is subtle and yet, it gives the reader a clear impression about how Lucifer feels about love. Nicely done.

I like this one lots better than the previous version, I don't know why. Ultimately, it's your choice.

Little nit-picky thing - I don't like the phrase majestic chair. There is no particular reason, I just feel that.... It doesn't... fit into the narrative.

Waise, how are you doing now?

Uss chair mai aisa kya hai?

Jitni bar jitni tarah se padha, weird laga. Usko utha ke table pe bitha de 🤣

Just bengali stuff. When all I am looking for is some white noise in the background, I turn to my mother tongue. Maximum enjoyment with minimum effort. 🤣🤣

Which shows are you watching?
