.

The lock down has been extended further. I hope people will abide by this announcement and cope up with the government to fight against this pandemic as that is all we can do right now. But now look da Bambayi scenario,…. another anandvihar ?

.

Lock down extended in India till May 3rd. Modi addressed the nation this morning and gave an update on the situation and announced the lockdown extension. The lock down may be relaxed a little bit after 20th April only in those areas where there are no cases of infection. The extent of relaxation will be very limited, just to allow some very essential activities to resume which benefits mainly the farmers and daily wage earners. But most part of the country will be shutdown till May 3rd. This time he did not ask for any clapping, lighting lamps or anything like that as people in general lost enthusiasm for that.
In my view, the extension of lock down is a good move. There were some speculation that they might relax the lock down and allow economic activity to resume. But in a country like India, these calibrated moves are bit risky as people will go back to the normal ways even if there is a slight relaxation in the lock down. So it is either full lock down or none for India.

.
The government machinery of India (central, state, local) deserves a lot of praise for the way they are handling this crisis. When 500 plus people were infected in a country of 1.3 billion, they locked the entire country down. The Indian railways that has been running for nearly 170 years was completely shutdown. I think the NY subway trains (at least some of them) are running even now in spite of the city being hit so hard by the pandemic. The urgency and efficiency with which they are doing contact tracing of each and every positive case and testing them, isolating the patients and suspects, sealing off the entire neighborhoods which are identified as clusters, day and night police patrols to keep the people out of streets, setting up of hospital beds in anticipation of community spread, the entire government machinery is working with a very heightened sense of urgency. Apart from this the government and several NGOs are doing their best to distribute food to the poor and needy who can't earn their daily bread due to the lock down. Is this perfect? No, but I think everyone involved is doing their best. Like I read somewhere, we Indians are terrible taking care of the routine governance like building and running schools, hospitals and roads, collecting garbage, keeping the country clean etc. But when it comes to a crisis like this I think we do a great job.Everyone joins together for a common cause and really works selflessly.Unfortunately after this is all over, the government will go back to being corrupt and inefficient!

.

I for the large part agree. However, the fate of migrant workers and rural communities is really bad. I know from first hand account that people in rural places are getting really worried. Currently the govt machinery is too busy in urban, semi-urban areas. Many communities including ours have taken it upon themselves to help surrounding stranded people or villages as announced government help to people or health care centers hasn't reached their targets yet.

When people from a particular community are consistently involved in such noble activities like spitting on health care professionals, the entire community does get the blame. Political correctness is overrated.

https://www.opindia.com/2020/04/coro...5rvmn9vMvQqTY4

.

India has no prayer of stopping a second wave of infections no matter what they do now. Clearly the current death rate shows that the number of infections out there in the public is much higher than the cases that have been confirmed. There is no way Indian officials are going to be able to track all those cases down through testing. I doubt Modi can extend the lockdown past the end of the month / May 3. When things open up, the infection would not have been subdued enough and a second wave will start. There is no hope here for India to control the spread. Its going to linger and fester until such time as a vaccine is discovered and can be mass produced and administered to the masses.

.

Someone asked me, A Nihang Sikh violating lockdown chopped off the hand of a police constable. Are you going to blame the entire Sikh Community ?

If its done consistently in the name of religion , spewing hatred against other religion and a pattern has established , YES I will blame the entire community . btw,.. Not just blame. There will be punishments too.

Some may say,.. Extension of lockdown in India is completely useless. Maybe a week more but not until May 3rd.

The data doesnt justify this. It strangles the people dependent on daily wages as also small biz owners.

Turkey following the isolation of vulnerable people more stringently than others.

S Korea not going for lockdown. Just restricting only vulnerable, infected.

After 3 weeks, we should have done that - identify people, communities, cities for lockdown. At least allow local economies to open.

We will kill more people out of starvation than the disease now.
.
Plus, I am very worried about kids not getting enough outdoor time. How much will they spend on screens? What about after-effects, addictions,etc...Completely mindless move, that some may say,.. partially right too.

It is heart breaking to see the plight of poor migrant workers. A poor woman migrant labor in Karnataka walked for nearly 3 days trying to go back to her village (no transportation during lock down) and eventually died due to starvation. This happened just last week. Millions of people are hurting due to the lock down. The government had to chose from two very bad options - lifting the lock down, which can possibly lead to uncontrollable community spread which can potentially kill thousands if not millions, or continuing the lock down which will prolong the misery of poor people. To me extending the lock down by 3 more weeks was the better option. But the government will face the same dilemma on May 3rd if the curve has not flattened by then.

I asked this question yesterday too where 1 girl answered. I want to know your views on what you all know about this horrible pandemic since you seem more informed than many here.

What was the situation during small pox pandemic in 1974 where majority affected were Indians? Was there similar lockdowns? Has film industry stopped shooting like film and tv shoot stopped now? After how much time shoot started and thing became back to normal? Has India only invited vaccine? And how much time it took everything back to normal like coming of vaccine and lifestyle becoming as before? I am asking too much questions because it was one of the worst pandemic of modern India.

I asked my parents but they hardly knew anything as they lived in villages then. Also they were kids.

^ Sahi baat hai,... Middle class remains da most sufferer in all havoc, .....those who are paying running mortgages ( w/ on-coming salaries ) of house, Cars, all diff EMIs etc,.. have no solution for somewhere trimming it down or so,.. ! I do not believe in all these ration and hunger-going and such starving hoopla, as no1 dies of eating less,.. the more you eat, more problem it brings,... Do fasts very often, if keeps yr body good by eating away bad cells, stomach reduction and all those,..

But people have got habit of making hoopla that what about food/milk/ vegetables and this and that,.... whenever any such things happen,... start eating only one time and less, yr body will gets used to that way soon,..... you will not die,.. whole US eats only one time,... as job starts from early morn to late evening and no1 can have full meal of dinner anywhere,..

.

IMO masks should be disposable, tight over mouth, should be worn and discard carefully and never re-use unless been washed with hot water - detergent properly. All Indian know nthg about the mask, they wear and again talk and lower it down ( including PM yesterday ) ,... so all funnels virus sitting outside, you breath accumulated now and it sticks to your neck for easy contamination? Masks are working anti-way, the Indian understands it as,.... It's like using a shifter and screening the tea and then putting the shifter upside down again, on the cup !!

.

Astrology :

I personally do not believe in this BS at all, unless scientific aspect is involved,. such as Eclipse, full moon, all planets getting linear,.. etc. Otherwise, think over it,.....if it was that valid science , the schools and universities must be teaching it ( for past centuries )just like other subjects,.. like Physics, Biology and Chemistry,.. why not ? But it's simply a bag of BS with all arbitrary imaginations, rosy calculations and loads of imaginary super-shitts.

==========

Coronavirus could attack immune system like HIV by targeting protective cells, warn scientists.
...
...
“More and more people compare it to HIV,” said the doctor who requested not to be named due to the sensitivity of the issue.

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/soci...ing-protective

Seems like the number of deaths maybe under reported in some locations like NYC, UK etc.

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-52275823

I have heard rumors about this having effect on fertility also. But I feel like we should ignore all this excessive effects because it becomes fear mongering.

As in itself this virus is enough to kill 1 in 100k people irrespective of their health, we do not need to add additional worries which maybe baseless to our list.

For someone to make such a bold claim they have to do very rigorous study since it will end humanity as we know it. Because upto 50% of people may get infected, most without any symptoms, in next two years. I cant imagine most of these folks having compromised immune system.

IMHO,

NIH should be funded - how much depends upon the research areas and budget needed. Trump has requested slashing the budget for 2021 but still the NIH will still get $38,000,000,000.

I am just curious if Modi is funding research since last 4 years and has come up with research of vaccines for COVID 19.

Out of 78 confirmed vaccine developments, 46% are in North America. In India, the only company working on Vaccine is Zydus Cadilla.

That said, India funds AYUSH ministry, which is Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy - yikes

(Patanjali will cure Covid 19 by reacting to information from around the world not from Ayurveda books

$200 million to Indian Medical Research (ICMR) and $275 million to AYUSH

$38000 Million to NIH.

So this all happened in mid-70s.

Baap re! Padhke hi darr lag raha hai. Aaj bhi hum usi haal me hai sirf beemari alag hai aur vaccine nahi nikli.

To agar small pox se bahot log marte the to film shoots band hua hoga kyunki city me social distance to shaayad raha hi hoga kyunki small pox contagious tha chicken pox se khatarnaak. To vo shoots kitne dinon tak band tha? Yaha to sab shoots band hai aur pata nahi kab tak rahega.

Uss waqt na advanced technology, na internet, na advanced treatment thi aaj ki tarah. Aaj ye sab hai fir bhi sanki haalat bahot kharab hai. Soch ke darr lagta hai ki jo sab tumne describe kiya uss waqt logon me kitna darr hoga.

I hope jaldi kuch vaccine aa haaye isse pehle condition aur bigaad jaaye. Your country having no lockdown. Aur lockdown hai fir bhi kuch log follow nahi karte aur kuch log ise planning se barbaad karte hai. Mujhe kisine kaha ki vaha Easter me log shopping gaye aur relatives se milne gaye the. Aur vaha abhi log beaches pe jaate hai. Yaha to tests kam ho rahe hai aur population bahot hai. Yaha 132 cr aur US me 32 cr.

In Germany, many people are getting cured. They random tested few people (around 1000) and noticed that many were carrying antibodies means they were infected and were cured. What is it that US cannot do then?
