Never read mills n boons ... just a thought of luv stories made me puke during kid- teen phase.

I was such a agatha christie fan that i always dreamt of becoming author of mystery books as a child 😆

@bold- yeah M&B, Silhouette romance and some comics too...there were a bunch of those romance books that I stayed away from. I've a friend who tried her best to get me to read one ....😃with no success.

Oh yes supandi jokes were quite funny. I too did not like much of Archie. My friends did read Archie Digest though.

We had a subscription for Chandoba till it shutdown , unfortunately my mom gave all chandoba issues we had as raddi paper , Can you imagine, such a great pop culture icon as Raddi .

Used to read Champak, ACK too.

That is very unfortunate. It is very difficult to find Marathi Chandoba. Hindi, English and Telugu Chandoba are easy to find but not Marathi. I wish somebody buys Chandoba and restarts the issues.

Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Agatha Christie- went through a phase where I read her every single day and have probably read all her books by now.

Balcony was the place to be.

I started reading agatha Christie as a teenager, I was more of a Perry mason guy, read a lot of his books.

I too used to read parikatha and Jadui katha, the books were about 25-30 pages long.

I have never heard of ankur and Balmitra. Were they local to specific regions like Pune or Nagpur ?

Kumar by Rane prakashan ( where all the faster fene stories appeared first )

& there was a tiny but beautyful Marathi magazine called " Phool Baag "

It was produced by one Mr Ashok Mahimkar , who handwrite the whole issue & then ran colored cyclostyle !

Are you sure Kumar closed down in 70's ? I remember reading Kumar in 80's. in fact Kumar and Kishore were two of my favourite magazines and there would be a race to get new Kumar issue in the Library. Or are your Kumar and my Kumar are different magazines ? .

As a kid I used to read Chandoba, thak Thak, Kishor and Champak magazines. There were many Marathi books from small time publishers about raja-rani, and adventures and magic and all sorts of other kid stories. I would read them a lot. Don't remeber authors though.

I read Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, Nancy Drew, Agatha Christie.

Amongst comics I read Chacha Chaudhary and Lotpot.

But my most favourite books of all time are FaFe Books. How come nobody even mentioned him. Many times, as a kid I wished I too had an adventurous life like Banya(which I think was Faster Fene's real name) of Fursungi.

Oh yes, FaFe, how did I forget Bha. Ra. Bhagwat's Manasputra. Bhagwat created another famous character, I do not remember his name.

kumar from G Y Rane publications , closed down sometimes in 77-78 .

I had subscription of both Chandoba & Kumar from 1974 . Kumar closed early . Chandoba , I received until 1984.

Balmitra is purvani for kids in Sakal

Ankur from Pudhari (it used to come in Satara also)

and also balrang from loksatta
