Loneliness... helplessness... gloom...
That’s all he felt as he stood on the terrace of his house, cradling his 8 year old daughter in his arms. The moon lit up the dark sky, smiling down on him as he stared into nothingness. The only sound he could hear was that of the breeze that ruffled his hair and his daughter’s steady breathing as she slept without any fear or worry, unaware of what she just lost.
Anurag Basu, a man once full of optimism, strength and cheerfulness, now stood broken, left with a void that would haunt him forever… Prerna was the name of that void.
“Mr. Basu…” a deep voice shook him out of his reverie. It was a voice he once used to hate, loathe with fury. Surprisingly, all that hate seemed to have faded away. The only person towards whom he felt any hate towards was himself.
Anurag turned around to face his former nemesis, Rishabh Bajaj, the man that once competed with him for Prerna’s love, the man whom Anurag vowed to destroy once.
“Onu!” Anurag flinched as he heard his mother’s harsh voice. She eyed Bajaj warily before asking him, “Tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?”
“Maa… just give me sometime… alone. I’ll be fine. Main aata hoon.” Mohini gave Bajaj a stern glance before left.
Bajaj turned to leave too, valuing the fact at Anurag wanted to be alone with his thoughts for a while, but his voice stopped him.
“I failed her… I failed her Mr. Bajaj. She would have been better off with you. I failed her… and her love. Aur ab, mere paas ek chance bhi nahi hai apni galatiyon ko sudhaarne ke liye.” Bajaj looked at Anurag Basu, the man who once stood tall and strong against him, now broken beyond repair, with nothing to heal him.
“I’ve failed her too Mr. Basu. In many ways, more than I can imagine. And yeah, she would have been better off with me, but she was happier with you. Hum dono ne Prerna ko bohot dukh diya hai, takleef diya hai, but she always came out strong. She changed us for the better. We’ve become better people because of her. Abhi, who hamare saath nahi hai, lekin unki yaadon ko mehfooz rakhna hamara farz hai. We owe her that Mr. Basu.” Bajaj said as laid acomforting hand on Anurag’s shoulder.
Anurag heard Bajaj’s words in silence. He, for once knew that Bajaj was right. For once, Anurag felt that it was not his nemesis speaking, but a man who cared and only cared about Prerna. Bajaj might have been his arch rival in the past, but right now, it seemed to Anurag as if Bajaj was the only person he could talk to.
Bajaj was the only person who knew what Anurag felt, because he felt it too. Both of them shared the grief of losing Prerna to an accident. Both of them knew that the other loved Prerna in their own way, though different, and that was the only thing that brought them together.
As Anurag and Bajaj walked down the stairs together, Prerna smiled down upon them from heaven, knowing that her daughters, be it Kuki or Sneha, were in safe hands. She also knew that as long as Anurag Basu and Rishabh Bajaj were alive, they would always keep her memories alive, for thei rlove for her was strong, and nothing could ever change that.

Okay... okay... I'm damn nervous. Please guys, don't kill me for this OS. This plot suddenly struck me and I just penned it down it a jiffy. I know that many people who like RB don't like Anurag and people who like Anurag may not like RB, but I feel that the only thing that might bring them together is Prerna...
And yeah, I know that I killed Pre in this OS, and I'm sorry for that :(
Please drop in your precious feedback on my writing. If it's not good, please forgive me because it's my first attempt at writing.
Love,
