Baaghi 3 Has Good First Week Collections

Baaghi 3 had a good first week with collections of 87 crore nett plus and it managed to hold well over the weekdays though Holi helped in some places. But even allowing for Holi the holds were good considering its an action film and one that has only really done well at mass centres.

There was a drop on Thursday as the film came out of Holi period though UP was adding a little extra to the collections on Thursday as well. The collections in UP were better on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday compared to Monday due to Holi. Wednesday saw a huge jump in UP which really helped the all the India collections on Wednesday. The film is the second success of the year after Tanhaji - The Unsung Warrior and a decent number on Friday will see it emerge a HIT but the danger will be more states shutting theatres like Delhi, Jammu and Kerala have done. The collections of Baaghi 3 till date are as follows.

Corona scare at its peak just eviscerated the business. At least it's a success already as BOI put.

Angrezi Medium Day One - Baaghi 3 Day Eight Estimates

Angrezi Medium is heading for a poor first day of around 3.25 crore nett and it could be lower as there has been announcemnets of cinemas shutting in ceratin states which could have affected public mentality although the notices were from midnight today.

Its an irrelevant number for the film as there is no hope for the film with cinemas closing for long periods due to Corona Virus. There was not much hope to begin with but if a film is in cinemas you can never write off until it actually has no chance. Here the film will be remain in minimal cinemas and key places like Mumbai and Delhi will not be playing the film leaving it with little chance.

Baaghi 3 faced a big drop with collections likely to be in the 1.5-2 crore nett range depending on where mass circuit numbers come out in the morning. The film faced huge drops at big centre multiplexes but places like UP have held much better. There is a notice to close cinemas in Bihar and if that is in play today then it will hit the film hard.

The Punjabi film Chal Mera Putt 2 is a decent fare with expected collections of 80-90 lakhs nett but again its hard to say what the future holds for this film.

Tiger is surely a superstar in the making...He just have to be very careful about choosing his scripts and avoid pitfalls like SOTY etc...Under the given circumstances, with the corona no more being a mere bahana but a real proper threat, Bhagi 3 seemed to have surely propelled his stature at the Box Office! 👏

Oh well peoples health is more important now. The numbers are outstanding for 6 days and the highest for 2020 so far.

Saturday Update: Angrezi Medium - Baaghi 3

The boxoffice is feeling the heat as Saturday saw cinemas shut in parts of Maharashtra, Delhi city, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu, Karnataka and Kerala and more shutdowns are likely to come. This meant the collections of Angrezi Medium dropped to 2.75 crore nett which is a 20-25% drop.

The two day numbers are 6.50 crore nett plus which is poor and there is likely to be another drop tomorrow as more states shut down. The best business of the film is coming from Gurgaon and Noida and even UP is looking decent because of the scenario even though the film has nothing for UP. The multiplexes in the bigger cities of UP are adding well to the film.

Baaghi 3 also dropped around 20% as it collected 1.75 crore nett to take its total to 91 crore nett plus in nine days but this film will suffer also on Sunday as more states shut cimes tomorrow. The film is good in UP and luckily that state will be open on Sunday where it is sure collect at least 60 lakhs but eventually that state will see a shutdown as well.

The film showed growth on Sunday despite Punjab and Rajasthan not playing the film on Sunday when they were playing on Saturday. The collections of the film will be close to 2 crore nett on Sunday which is a low collection but it is putting up numbers where it is being allowed to.

The film is a HIT in Gujarat / Saurashtra and UP as both these areas recorded good collections on Sunday and over the second weekend as well as very good first week collections. The problem on Monday will be that Gujarat / Saurashtra belt will be shutting down which will mean a big hit for the film. The second weekend of the film is around 5.75- 6 crore nett though fair value would be around 12-13 crore nett.

Angrezi Medium will collect in the 2.50-2.75 crore nett range on Sunday which will mean a weekend of 9.25-9.50 crore nett and here fair value is hard to judge as it was hardly being screened in the metros on Saturday and where it was screened like Gurgaon and Noida the Saturday growth was not much maybe due to Corona fear. Its impossible to judge the real value growth on Saturday city numbers as the performance was not like a normal Saturday.

I don’t think we should ever reference Baaghi 3 for collection or analysis purposes due to the coronavirus. I’m surprised it even collected this much.
