“Instead it’s slow and insidious, slinking through you like ink through water, until it permeates every inch of your soul.”
― Karina Halle, A Nordic King
Aquamarine-the dazzling blue Peruvian necklace was rendered a tad bit more radiant in the midnight blue velvet case. Moonlit nights were always her favourite. Red was the warmth of her heart! But, the aquamarine in front of her, lying in splendid isolation on the bedstead was as cold as her numbed blue fingers. Fine water droplets cascaded through her limp, damp curls, she shivered wrapped in a blanket. She had hollered through the massive corridors of the Udaivilas Palace in Udaipur, asking for the whereabouts and the rightful owner of this anonymous velvet case dropped at her doorstep with a bouquet of sinister Black Calla Lilies. She couldn't be more shocked to open it under the gaze of the moonlight.
Aquamarine, right as if it had fallen from a mermaid's treasure chest.
Wasn't it the same one, she had laid her eyes upon last night through the closed crystal doors of the souvenir shop?
Who could it possibly be? She wondered as she bit her quivering lips. The droplets of water traced the undefined curves of her frail blue lips. The deep jewel tones of her Matte Melt lipstick had started bleeding from the edges given her prolonged exposure to water.
She once again traced the elegant curves of cursive handwriting embossed in the deep shades of Prussian blue ink.
"Anything for you, your safety, security and for a better life that you deserve! ~B"
The organic, recyclable textured paper had absorbed most of the ink, and the letters scrawled on it, she had read it many times, caressed it in bewilderment. It had a rich, erotic and aged fragrance of tobacco kept in a new leather pouch subdued by a whiff of Cologne-something similar to the Dopp Kit her father had got from Germany ages ago.
Maybe, she will find 'B' soon enough; aquamarines were good luck charms, sailor's delight-the jewel in front of her had thousands of mysteries hidden in it!
P.S-Okay, I am back and this time a longer story, very different from what's going on currently. What if I had met you before anyone else? Yeah, that's the theme. Bouquets and brickbats are welcome.
