Exactly, I agree with you...he shouldn't have been in silence at least he should have stopped her in a sarcastic way like he did when she was looking for words to explain him why she hide it in the first place.
As Geeth mentioned, he will clear her insecurities by his actions in future. Actions speaks louder than words. So I hope and expect him to show that he regrets for what he said to Mishti, about being from a home breaker family.
