Ranbir won't stand against abhi if he doesn't get to know Rhea's true colors before that. Because in that case he'll feel guilty for breaking his chief's daughter's heart. But once he gets to know,he definitely will. Atleast that's what I think. Also another part of me thinks that no matter what Ranbir will stand for Prachi like he has said various times. The only time he'll even consider being with Rhea is to protect prachi.

I think ranbir will eventually be the first to know Rhea's true colours and will struggle to prove this to prachi and others. Else like you said he will continue to feel guilt towards rhea and out of respect for his chief.
