Spoiler Alert : This topic contains parts from today’s episode. Those yet to catch it please stop reading here.

A fantasy by its very nature gives lots of room for exploration. There are many back stories possible and future timeline as well, if the makers wish to do so.

YJHJK began with a very promising premise and for the most part has stuck to it. They have done quiet well with the magical part of the story. My opinion though is that they could do better. The love story part of the story is nothing much to root for - not with such an egomaniac hero. So what they can work on is the fantasy part.

When they gave the back story for Ayana - here’s an opportunity for exploration of Roshni’s powers. Yes she can wield it under pressure but Tabeezi herself stated that without properly understanding her powers Roshni could die using them. So why not explore more on it? Maybe even bring Ayaana’s ancestral family into play (still hoping for this even as who Roshni’s parents were is still mystery, though without an ounce of training Roshni is adept at her magic). I hoped they would explore more on why it was specifically Ayaana who could defeat Sifrithi. Why were they arch enemies?

Today again the makers have opened a thread that of explored can make for lots of interesting episodes (very well aware that this is ITV and I am basically asking a fish to climb tree) . As said by Kabeer, there’s a corner in the dark forest which is Ayaana’s. A place where she has locked the key to the entirety of dark powers of dark sky. Doesn’t that make one wonder how that came to be? Why did the previous Ayaana or maybe someone else, choose to place the key in a realm that belongs to Jinns and make it accessible only to Ayaana. Sort of enticing the Jinns with forbidden fruit. So much room for story telling.

Anyways by the looks of the precap , things are moving in a different direction. Here’s to hoping it’s a good one.

Perfectly put!!!!

Precap is interesting but I don’t know how it will go.

Too many unresolved issues and we still don’t have closures for many other tracks. I am yet to watch but I like to read update to check if it’s worth the hassle.

That would require creativity but would make up for a very good and interesting storyline.. Perhaps that's what makes international shows different from our shows.. They create interesting plots and characters but are not able to sustain it.. Rightly said - missed opportunities... 🥺

I mean look at Harry Potter ( I know I am quoting a classic, but what's wrong at referring at the best😆).. There were stories within stories.. Villains, side characters everyone had a distinct character sketch, a back story... Most of the situations were quite well explained... Here they tell you facts.. Why, how you can keep guessing.. 😆 These are the fine points that distinguishes ordinary from extraordinary..

My all time favourite and can reread it as many times without getting bored

But if we watched the movies after reading the books then we will feel that the essence which was in the books was lacking when it comes to movies

And jk Rowling was great but in my opinion movies havent done full justice to the book

Let’s hope so. TRP is a very unreliable indicator of how good a show is. Many shows which are top TRP earners have been stretched far beyond necessary in my opinion and some really good shows cut short because of low TRP.

It’s time a new measure was bought in to accurately assess how good a show on TV is.

Thanks Vibha

I never watch the whole episode and since I catch mine through hotstar , the forward icon is my dearest friend.

I don’t know if Gul shows ever tie up their loose ends properly having never watched them in full but here’s to hoping they do.

A story can never be sustained by the main character or couple alone in my opinion. Life is never so one dimensional. Anyone person’s life is always connected with many more people and all of them together make an interesting story.

Fellow Potterhead here and yeah , you are right. Without Voldemort’s backstory, would it have made much sense to us?

Gul goes through phases but one thing is consistent in that her FL always gets insulted by the ML.

For me content and story is must as looks can only take you so far. If looks was the main thing Salman khan will never ever have a flop and whilst I understand that some don’t mind for me a ML who goes on insulting spree is not one to be admired.

Having said that this show was very good before and TRP showed it. Let’s hope they get better and this one episode is not an aberration but a consistent track.

Very well put. Side plots or plots within plots is very good, but the writers should know where to link or sync them up which is indeed a creative attribute. As pointed out rightly in the first post, we dont know who Aayana really is? How did she come to have powers? There could be a very interesting history here. Why only she is capable of killing the jinnad folks? When can she understand his full powers? This is so true that in order to use your powers effectively you need to understand them first and know when to use what. This itself can be a sub plot. Tabeezi is also so under utilized as a character in this show. She atleast has been formed or shaped well but her use is sporadic. How did Aman know his powers? Why can he be powerless without Aayana? So many questions but no answers to any yet.
