As far as they have shown Pallavi,she isn't a bad person at all. She was encouraging Meera because she could see Meera's feelings for Abhi and she has known Meera for years and no one knows when or if Pragya and Prachi will ever return to Mehra mansion so she was just being a good friend to Meera who has served that family with no obligation for years. And besides Pallavi doesn't even know Pragya,so it's not fair to ask her to be loyal to Pragya whom she hasn't even met. She is just being loyal to Meera.

With regards to being a hurdle for pranbir,once she gets to know who her son truly loves and has always loved,I don't think she'll do anything against them. If she gives into Rhea's manipulations then sure it's gonna be hard but once she gets to know the truth I guess she even like Abhi would help pranbir.
