Amitabh Bachchan at the time kept saying he didn’t want a big wedding because his mom was terminally ill and basically on her death bed. It was still a pretty big event and three days of celebrations. Rani and SRK not being invited made big news because of who they were and their connections to Bachchans via movies. But I think both of them were taken off the list by Ash. A few years later when they came together on KWK they talked about it a little and mentioned his grandmother being the reason. They said the family sent those they couldn’t invite an apology note and sweets and everyone accepted their explanation except for Shatrugan Sinha who was so mad he returned the sweets back.
They definitely should have handled it better. But because of Ash’s fallouts with Salman, Rani, and SRK the media also made a much bigger deal out of it than need be. Also at the time they didn’t release any pictures either which further pissed off the media. That part was definitely arrogant. Just come out and post for pictures or release a couple of official shots.
