One-note/repetitive acting?

Is it just me or does certain actors like apply the same technique in acting over and over again?

Like, they literally act like they came straight from one set to another? The characters sound the same, there is no improvisation or experimentation, and the emotional scenes seem deja-vu.

Except for Kangana, Ranbir, and Rajkumar Rao, most of the millennial actors are one-note actors. But who takes the cake when it comes to this special form of acting?

Look at Alia Bhatt, for instance.

To me, she was and always will be average as an actress, because IMO being an actress entails more than just screen presence, which Alia has. But otherwise, she lacks the aura around her and something about her is so off-putting. She has raw screen presence but is overrated as an actress IMO.

She applies the same techniques, and relies too much on being 'cutesy'.

I only really liked her in Udta Punjab, to be honest. There she completely transformed herself.

Ayushman Khurrana - Though I'm a fan, he also indulges in one-note acting. A LOT.

Taapsee Pannu - The best example of mediocrity celebrated as excellence. She was stiff and monotonous in Badla like no-one's business.

I have taken these three names because they are considered as good actors, but I think they fail to bring something fresh to each character.

Discuss.

Sorry, not hammed. I don't know the word for it. Her facial muscles were so stiff, it was like she was too lazy to move them.

Yeah, his limitations as an actor were severely exposed in Good Newzz, especially in scenes with Diljit.

There are only few actors who completely transform into the character. In terms of actresses, its kangana where she actually transforms into a different character with her mannerisms and the way she talks. She transfoms into the character.

Alia is a good actor in that she is able to display emotions with ease...and also is a natural actress. She is really good there. but she is supremely limited in her range imo. I think people mistake her films and characters she has been lucky to get with versatality. She repeats core emotions that she is strong in..in every fim. her dialect is tweaked...but you can tell it is rehearsed and she recieves aid in how it is set up by the directors. Every break down scene she has is the freaken same, the way she cries..she cries like alia. not the character.

kangana truly goes one step ahead in transforming 360 instead of the 180 I see with alia. thats the diff between a fabulous actor and just a good actor.

sorry for the long ass post.

Agree....I see a repetitive pattern with the above three and surprisingly the three of them found a formula for success that placed them in the middle ( not considered top actors nor below-average ones)

her facial muscles were stiff coz she was hiding the truth through out and did not want to give too many details thru her expressions to reveal the truth

this was a kick ass performance

put anyone in real situation like this and she would react exactly the same

we are not in 90s anymore where OTT karisma kapoor expressions be given at every scene

it is also imp to know what the premise was..like i explained here for the lack for expressions on her face and being stiff..coz she had to given the situation
