Another thing I wanted to add is that these trends can be misleading as far as the number goes.
If you follow BiggBoss you’d know that Asim trends in bigger numbers than Siddharth but in the actual voting, Siddharth was way ahead of Asim. (No, the voting wasn’t rigged or anything)
Let me explain how:
Take KHKT’s trend. You have pegged that 135k tweets have been made in that tag.
Does that mean there are 1.35 lakh people tweeting about KHKT? No.
If you follow such trends, most of the tweets are copy-paste tweets and retweets which are done solely for the purpose of increasing the tweet count. So these tweets are meaningless. These are basically filler tweets which makes the tag look very crowded while in reality it is just a deception.
Another thing is that an average member of the trend, doesn’t stop with just 1 tweet. He may tweet even 1000 tweets, which might give the impression that 1000 people are tweeting while in reality it is just one person.
Let’s say on an average, a person tweets 100 tweets. This means that around 1350 people are participating in the trend.
This number is very insignificant compared to the kind of viewership TV shows get.
That is why channel never takes these trends seriously.
