Priyanka Chopda in Bajirao Mastaani is THE answer for this question.

Other than her,Nawazzuddin in The Lunchbox.I think the actors who played ranveer's father and his smuggler friend were better than siddhant chaturvedi in Gully Boy.

Saif Ali Khan might have been the show stealer in Tanhaji but shouldn't he be known as the antagonist and not the supporting character.Supporting character was Sharad Kelkar's and he was stellar too.

How come Priyanka's performance Kashibai became so popular, all of sudden?😆

Is it because of the ongoing Deepika-hate on this forum, lol?

I was on this forum when BM released.

Priyanka was good in her role, but there wasn't anything in the film where she "stole" the show from Deepika OR Ranveer. (though I was expecting her to)

Say what you want. I love Priyanka BUT Bajirao-Mastani was an out and out Ranveer-Deepika film.smiley14
Deepika NAILED the role of Mastani.

Coming back to the question,

Apart from the ones mentioned in the poll, there are several other instances where a supporting character stole the show, so much that their respective movies are sometimes remembered for their performances alone.

Some of my personal favorites are

-- Sunny Deol in Damini
-- Karishma in DTPH.
-- Preeti Zinta in Dil Se
-- Sushmita in Biwi No. 1
-- Paresh Rawal in Hungama
-- Safi Ali Khan in Kal Ho Na Ho
-- Anil Kapoor/Nana Patekar - Welcome
-- Illena D'Cruz in Barfi
-- Anushka Sharma in Jab Tak Hai Jaan
-- Fawaad Khan in Kapoor & Sons
-- Rajkumar Rao in Barelli Ki Barfi
-- Surekha Sikri in Badhai Ho.

Even when the movie released, many on the forum liked priyanka chopra's performance more.If I am not wrong, critics held the same opinion. She was just so amazing man,the ghuroor scene, the scene where kashibai asks rao to never enter her room again. She danced better too.

@Italics it was a great performance for a debut but the film will always be remembered as Barfi and Jhil-Mil's story.

Regarding BM when the movie was released the forum ripped apart Deepika and hailed PC (just like the critics) it has nothing to do with ongoing hate IMO

Priyanka in bajirao mastani.

The tale was to be of two star-crossed lovers who are the victims of fate.

But Priyanka made it a tale of a wife's broken trust by a cheating husband and her resolve to still stay true to her duties.

Isiliye, in padmavat, the second queen was shown negative and actually she wasn't shown at all. Because they feared if they casted a big actress, she might overshadow DP.

If you had to pick just one Bollywood movie as your all-time favorite, which one would it be? And what makes it so special for you?
