We already have so many remakes of classic korean movies?

Awarapan - A Bittersweet life

Murder 2 - The chaser

Zinda - Oldboy

Ek villain - I saw the devil

Rocky Handome - The man from nowhere

Bharat - An ode to my father

Will Parasite be the next korean movie to be butched by BW 😆

Aside from Rocky Handsome and Bharat....all the others as I believe were unauthorized uncredited remakes...

Maybe this major win for Korean Ceniam at the Oscars will encourage Indian filmmakers to produce more creative original work even though I doubt it as day by day and with each new release the level of mediocrity is increasing and even if there are good movie out there it's not getting the right recognition....at the moment regional films are better in terms of content, acting, and stories than Bollywood but compared to western or even Asian countries India is far behind

THANK GOOD Gully Boy was not nominated knowing it was a rip off of 8mile and knowing that Eminem himself did a surprise performance at the show could have made things more embarrassing.....so the people at the academy awards were far more sensible than the Indian jury who selected it to be as India official entry in the first place

So it's not farfetched that we are going to see an Indian Parasite any time soon

BW is a joke, it has always struggled with originality, so I would not be suprised

I don't think it's similar to Shoplifters which is a great Japanese movie by the way .....yet the subject of poverty and income gap is a recurrent topic in Korean Cinema

One great movie I saw that discussed similar topics was Lee Chang-Dong Burning ......the movie was a love triangle between three characters but it sure touched upon the social divide and the struggles of youth in South Korea....a brilliant brilliant movie and Lee Chang-Dong is an amazing Korean director as well...honestly I can't forget the amazing imagery and camera work in that movie

And there are so many other great Korean and foreign-language movies that one can't even begin to name

I was implying that Shoplifters was more deserving between the two... Imho parasite is highly overrated.

Sounds good, will check out Burning.. 👍
