She isn't wise. That was pretty well established by the second flashback. She didn't obviously think MJ would be this vengeful. She thought exposing his wrongdoing to the press would give her justice. Dumb yes but absolutely nothing can justify MJs horrific behavior. In same vein, nothing in her past gave her right to hurt Rishi.
That i totally agree. Maya was just dumb whereas MJ is evil.
