If we go by the Durga Mahishasur story also, then there are several versions to consider.
Some versions show that Parvati had to assume Durga form because Mahishasur wanted to attack her child Kartikeya. And Shiva did not intervene, as he knew that his wife is capable enough to handle him. In that context, Mrityunjay may threaten Maya's child again, and then she kills him.
Some versions say that she is 'Dashabhuja', so every devta offered their most powerful weapon to vanquish Mahishasur. But in Maya's context, who will offer her or who will be her weapon to conquer Mrityunjay, we don't know. Right now she is only on defense, not offense.
Some versions say that Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh combined their three prime weapons - Brahmastra, Trishul and Sudarshan chakra and offered it to Durga which she then used to kill Mahishasur. So in Maya's case, will there be such a thing? Mahesh is Rudra, Vishnu maybe Rajiv, then who is Brahma?
But essentially the story stands at Mahishasur was enamored by Parvati's beauty and power. He wanted to possess her, but she refused him and then they fought each other, and Durga became Mahishasur mardini. So if we go by this basic story, I believe Mrityunjay may initially try with threats and manhandling, but Maya may not give in. Then Maya may show all her shades of darkness which may??? attract Mrityunjay towards her again, as she is a challenge he may want to win over for himself. But Maya then too will not give in and would stick with Rudra no matter what, which will cause Mrityunjay to slowly unravel and bring out the beast (Mahish) within him and then Maya would kill him. But before that, she needs to show him what Maya is capable of and break through the defenses of those 7 people who safeguard him. So let's see, how this story takes shape.
