Rani was no.1 3 years, Ash was number 1 4 years, Karishma 1 year and Kareena 2 years the whole decade into consideration ash was decades no.1 actress weather we want to agree or deny.

How is Mohabbatein an Ash movie ? She had a cameo role in that movie . Ash never dominated unilaterally even 3-4 years at a stretch let alone from 2000-2008.

For Devdas she won Filmfare best actress, she dominated HDDCS salman was annoying in that film, I'm not a fan but I think she is underestimated in acting, she wasn't out of the world actress but she wasn't bad like say Kat who is most popular last decade but her acting was terrible although she improved over the years.

Despite her phase of flop films, she was still considered a sought after actress. Anyone with that many flops would be done and dusted, especially Aish--since she was basically blacklisted by anyone that was close to Salman/SRK & Aamir didn't want to work with her b/c she asked for a script of Mangal Pandey. That's a true icon. Someone that can sustain themselves in such a fickle place like she did.

Her peak was between 1997-2004 and then had another good phase between 2006-2009. Post that it's been zilch but ADHM gave her a good boost that she didn't materialize b/c that legit showed an older woman in her mid 40s playing an extremely sultry character and she could look good with younger leads. But damn, she signed duds.

Puhlease. She was... the taller/slightly thinner one? She had the energy to perform the number, but her mudras and body coordination were not a patch on Madhuri's flawless grace, especially in the first part of the number.

I’m sorry but the reality is that Madhuri got slayed and shredded by Aish in Dola Re Dola. This does not discredit her as a dancer but she did not stand out at all. Just because Madhuri is hailed as the best dancer in Bollywood (a bit of an overrated title), it’s almost considered blasphemy to compare her to anyone else - or God forbid any other actress dances better than her. 😆

I personally find Aish to be one of the most graceful dancers. She is very smooth and pleasing to the eye.

No one got "slayed and shredded" here: neither Madhuri nor Aishwariya - the very choreography was not aimed at suggesting a dance duel - but Aish's flaws (not huge, but noticeable) were exposed. The devil is in the details.

Though it was not intended into being a duel, the audience turned it into a competition. Since Madhuri is hailed as a queen, instead of appreciating that another actress danced just as good as her (and held her own despite not being as ‘technically’ skilled) - fans were already being defensive of Madhuri. Sure, I can admit that Madhuri has more technical skills but that doesn’t mean you always have to look better dancing than the rest. In my opinion, Aish was more noticeable and did overshadow Madhuri. I had to rewatch the song with the intention to actually STARE at her so I can see her dance because Aish kept catching my eye throughout.

Similarly, when Juhi Chawla danced on stage with Madhuri on that dance tv show (forgot the name), the same thing happened. Despite Madhuri being the better and more skilled dancer- Juhi stood out more.

it doesn't matter. Most viewers have very little idea what truly accomplished dancing is and are not interested in the finer aspects of choreographies. But the idea of "being defensive" could easily be turned on its head, so that some people on IF will swear that Aish or Juhi "look better" because they can't stand the idea of Madhuri being the best dancer. At any rate, "looking better" is highly subjective and should not be equaled with "slaying" or "shredding" when more objective criteria can be applied.

Or that dance off with Karisma in DTPH. Again Karisma was better there.

Madhuri is a great dancer no doubt, but not all the time, and some of her colleagues are better, while their skills may not be as recognized as Madhuri's are.

I remember when watching Devdas the first time, I couldn’t take my eyes off Aishwarya during Dola re Dola song. I’m not even a fan of Aishwarya but she did overshadow Madhuri during the song. Madhuri is among the best dancers in Bollywood (not the best out there) but she does get overshadowed in dance off.
