Key Highlights

  • Ashish Chowdhry plays the role of Mritunjay Roy aka MJ in Beyhadh 2
  • He plays one terrifying antagonist in Jennifer Winget's revenge drama
  • Here's why we think he is one amazing villain on the small screen

Jennifer Winget set the small screen on fire with her role as Maya Mehrotra in the first season of Beyhadh. The actress came back as Maya in the second season of the show but this one has a far more terrifying villain. Ashish Chowdhry plays the role of Mrityunjay Roy aka MJ in the show and is quite impressive, too.

Finally Jennifer met her match on the small screen to play a villain as terrifying as her on the show. Ashish has a magnificent screen presence and completely owns the character. He either makes you a tad bit uncomfortable or leaves you in awe of him.

Here are 3 reasons why Ashish as MJ is one of the most terrifying villains on the small screen.

Ashish owns the character completely

We’re not saying that he treats his wife all that well, but the whole bit after Antara’s public breakdown when he sweetly threatens to send his wife to the rehab if she doesn’t live up to his expectations was chilling. It’s not just that but a lot of scenes like that. You know he is smart and can sense danger. He knows how to wriggle his way out of trouble and that leaves you in awe of him sometimes.

A perfect match to Jennifer

He is one of the only actors who literally match up to her level on the show. If you thought Maya was terrifying, MJ is just as villainous as her. In fact, even Maya is scared of MJ. We cannot think of anyone else who could have played this character on the small screen.

His overall look

We love Ashish’s salt-n-pepper hair and his dapper looks on the show. It adds a lot of charm to the negative role that he plays on TV. It makes you like him a little more and you get to see a totally different version of him.

Ashish makes a potentially menacing villain as Mrityunjay to Jenny's Maya. Looking forward to what he does to counter Maya's plans. 👍🏼

Terrifying🤣🤣

Sure, i mean having more than 1 woman in life, not going to office, having a salt and pepper look is terrifying🤣

CVs butchered his character, didn't they?

I will only say that MJ as a villian is hot, muscular and he is actually quite scary at some points but he has not done anything dhamakedaar. We have seen Maya's hadh when she made RIshi cut his wrist but we have only seen glimpses of MJ. I still remember MJ holding Rishi's neck and telling him that he cannot marry Maya and the way he humiliated Antara at the company anniversary party. And also the man is smarrttt which is Maya is very cautious with him.

Partly agree with the article. Ashish is a fabulous actor and one of the reasons I wanted to give BH2 a go. I wanted to watch it not only for Jenny but for Ashish too. I saw Dev and Dev 2 only for him. He is a good actor and has an amazing screen presence. Probably one of the few actors who can match up to Jenny on TV. He has that charm but unfortunately he is not being utilized. I was disappointed when I saw the first episode and I realised he is not paired opp Jenny but Shivin is. For a while I resented Shivin coz I didn't think of him much as an actor as I had seen him in Veera last. He was average there, nothing out of the ordinary. But BH2 and the way he has breathed life into Rudra's character changed my perspective and I guess I look forward to seeing him more than Jenny now 😆 Sorry went off track. But thing is though Ashish is a talented actor with a strong screen presence, he is being wasted here. Want to see more of MJ now. Rajesh sir (Rajesh Khatter) was an amazing villain in S1 despite his role being short lived. Only when the past comes into picture and we get a clear picture of MJ's involvement with Maya, I can appreciate Ashish here.

I actually think that Ashish is a horrible actor. Weakest if I may say so.

When Rishi’s character died his crying was soooo fake and unnatural
