New York did well because it was a good film, it had good reviews. Katrina was arguably the biggest star but John and Neil were also doing well at the time. YRF promoted the film successfully, and it came right after the industry was on lockdown for a few weeks.

MBKD had superhit music and again was a well received film. Katrina's performances in these films were good but in no way does this prove she is a "box office pull".

Let her do a film with no songs and just her without any other stars and then we can talk.

Baar Baar Dekho flopped so hard, the music was amazing, Dharma promoted it so much, Sid was hot property too. But the film was so bad, nobody got time for that.

"Star power" is a myth, largely.

Even in Sridevi's heyday, nobody went to watch Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja.

Post 1994'5 HAHK, Madhuri had Raja which was a hit, but then Rajkumar and Prem Granth flopped big time in 1996 - because there is no such thing as "box office pull" - it is ALWAYS about the whole package. The film needs positive reviews (whether from critics or audience) plus things like promotion, stars, music etc.

Hilarious how all things starts working when it comes to opening of katrina's movies but if likes of kareena deepika give openings, it is due to them and when they flop , it is all due to other factors.

And unfairly crediting kareena for the projects and called her box office queen when it was kat who was always box office queen during their peaks. . So yeah it is called hypocrisy of highest order.
