A superstar known for her beauty purposely 'unbeautified' herself

this is what she said in her review on chapaak

so so much wrong in this statement

there was a journalist who asked during promotions..if deepika was scared to look at herself after she saw herself becoming malti..to which she was rightly called out for

i feel anupama's statement is equally wrong..she is very openly calling a very brave girl who survived an acid attack "unbeautiful"

this is a well known film critic and journalist saying this..so i cannot even imagine how bad it be elsewhere..

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We cannot force people to find things beautiful.

Also, it's strange to see this outrage especially on IF where people are mocked and made fun of for their looks all the time.

Lol. Fake wokeness for internet points. Same people spend hours mocking the likes of Deepika, Katrina, Anushka for looks.😆

are you seriously drawing a parallel here?

those people have not had their faces melting due to someone throwing acid on them..

they have not been through that trauma..they have not lost their faces..they have not been through society telling them they are misfit ..

you really feel this statement is okay on acid attack survivors who already are fighting enough prejudice against them because of the physical aspects of it.. just because people also say the same stuff about celebs..

@Bold: They have been through some trauma at some point in life, right? Yes, acid may not have been thrown on them, but they have some deformity, like a big nose or thin lips etc which people in general, but IFians in particular, love to pick on and make fun of. If you can find that okay, why isn't this okay?

You don't have to find an acid attack surivor beautiful. If they look beautiful to you, great. If they don't look beautiful to you, fine. But creating this fake narrative that everyone should find acid attack survivors beautiful - that's a bit much.

What matters is whether or not we treat them equally, with love, respect and humanity.

i agree to it..

i am just saying..we don't always have to find them beautiful but at least we don't have to be vocal about it either..like saying things like..how scared were you ..or how did you unbeautify yourself on national tv more so..can come across as insensitive..may be not for us..but for those who may have been through it

having said that..yes it is not cool to mock any one for looks..and yes IF in particular indulges in that..we all do..won't take that away and won't call it right either..

I don't think it's about finding acid attacks surivers beautiful it's more about saying they aren't. It's uncalled for as acid attacks victims didn't purposelly become the way they are. Their life is a struggled because of people like Anupama who say this kind of thing.

It's not the first time Anupama made an untasteful statement about their looks.

And I'm sorry but praising Deepika because she "dared" to look ugly is uncalled for especially since it's in fact a prothestic.

It will be more apt to praise her for her acting if there is any...

An acid attack victim is always suffering and has to go through numerous operation  as acid keeps on attacking their organs.
