The problem with Ek Ladki Ko Dekha... was that it was a horrible film (albeit with a great story). The film was unwatchable. Not to mention Sonam Kapoor's acting skills (or lack thereof).

Ayushmann is an A-List actor. His films are usually much better made too. So the equivalence is false.

Ek Ladki was actually a well-thought film. It failed because of the way it was executed and the lead actress, not because of the storyline. Shubh Mangal Zada Savdhaan will do much better if it is executed better and because its lead actor is actually a good actor.

His movies are mainly for multiplex audiences and they worked mostly because of budget, he doesn’t the superstar aura of a Khan or kumar, or neither he is an entertainer, put him in a commercial film he will be instantly rejected, basically very limited. I think in his generation Ranveer Singh, ranbir kapoor who have that X factor, they can entertain the masses and the classes and have better connection with the common man.

No. His movies cater to middle to lower middle class. Ranbir/Ranveer are successes because of the production houses backing them (not to take away from their talent).

It’s not only that they can entertain the masses quite well and suit more movie genre, Ayushmann is good in these small movies where pace is slow, limited dialogues and everything has to be realistic, he’s good in those genre but put him in a masala film he will look out of place.
